I'm sure the Germans who became Nazis had a "crisis of identity", too. And what about Stalin?

"Does anyone have the feeling that, thanks to the French riots, the age of official multiculturalism may be over?"
Excellent point. But really, what will be the outcome of the riots? France has no jobs to offer, never will.

It is in America that the French riots pose a problem for the Left, because Americans have an alternative to "the French way"---the Republicans.
