He is an elected county sheriff, one that has actually been reelected by the voters in his county.
What right do you have to judge those citizen's decision?

Yes, those citizens have paid millions in fines and settlements for sheriff Joe's violations of Constitutional rights including torture and fraud. What amazes me is that those idiots keep re-electing him.

The important question:
Is Arizona such a third world hotbed of violence and crime that they are willing to pay the penalties incurred by this petty little authoritarian?

Arpaio is a jackass, he is the T.O. of law enforcement. Yes he has done some good things but... he has also cost the state of Az and Maricopa county alot of money with some of his shady tactics and dealings. Joe is nothing more than a grandstanding fool. One day soon he may end up in his own tent city wearing pink boxers and eating green balogna.

The ACLU (American Communist Liars Union) is full crap also, this fight is gonna be fun to watch....2 one legged men in a butt kicking contest!!

It is only for criminal traffic, and nothing that's been said in public suggests that they can stop someone without a violation and just take their prints for the hell of it. And I'm typically against any enlarged power for LEO's. It's just a change in policy to use a power they already have. If somebody doesn't think they should have that power, don't attack the policy, get it changed legislatively so the Sheriff's office doesn't have the choice to make.

Something tells me that the ACLU is a seditious group that ought to be rounded up and placed in solitary. That will give them all the privacy they have a "right to".

Another more detailed article.

Still Thinking, according to this article "speeding" is a "criminal" violation and would be included in the program.

It was something the sheriff just passed because he felt like it. He looks good to others who don't have him as a sheriff. I used to like him. But more often than not everything he does is just to stroke his own ego.

That is exactly what happened to my husband. A troublemaking relative of his whose own license was suspended got stopped by a cop, and he gave the cop my husband's name and birthdate. My husband's license was supended.

This same person was able to do this in 2 states! We don't even know where this relative lives. My husband had to prove this guy was not him.

Actually, not the garden variety kind of speeding you're probably thinking of. Criminal speed in Arizona is more than 20mph over the limit.
