Well I've had combat experience with both the 5.56 & the 7.62 and I'll take the 7.62 any day.
My fellow Marines in Iraq agree with me too.

Ditto Kelly. Although I never got to use an M14 in a combat situation I did see the comparative effects of the 5.56 M16 round versus the 7.62 M60. With today's urban environments I would prefer to have the ability to penetrate cinder blocks and bricks as compared to volume of fire.
