Today's news contains this item.
nationalgrid today announced that people in the six New England states will have to expect rolling blackouts of 1-2 hours duration during the day when electric demand peaks. This is due to a projected shortage of fuel -- principally natural gas -- for the few electric generating plants that serve the Northeast. The Northeast banned coal-fired and new nuclear plants years ago. There has not been a new power plant built here since the 1970s.

I'm afraid they can't blame Bush for this.

$2.50 MM/BTU coal versus $12.00 natural gas. Help yourself.

GWB was at Yale in the 1960s and Harvard in the 1970s. I bet while he was there he greased some palms and got some laws passed...
Yes, there's a way to blame this on Bush.

Announce that something, that is very unlikely to occur, "may occur", then gouge the hell out of the people who use natural gas....

No need to worry... All those windmills off Cape Cod will fill the gap.
To: txroadhawg
Maybe they can run the windmills off Fat Teds house. Ya know what?? I would bet after suffering some cold nights they still wouldnt vote to allow Nuclear Power. Funny thing is they are fighting to keep the Nuclear Submarine base.
They get what they deserve.

But the Bush administration's hurricane making machine started the snowball rolling in September.

If folks will just turn the thermostat down to 65 deg.F, load on
the longjohns, use only candles for light and exchange those electric blankets
for goose-down comforters...it'll be OK.
At least I suspect that would be Jimmy Carter's advice.

huh? every report I have seen shows that natural gas stockpiles in the northeast are building too rapidly because of the warm weather here so far through mid November. now they are predicting a shortage?
