You can tell your friend, Ralf, that as I read your post, I started to smile, then I sat up a little straighter, and right now I just feel very, very good. Ralf, when you take that oath, we will all feel it in our hearts.

Welcome, Ralf. The US is the only country in the world where you can go and become a part of that culture. I could never go to Japan and be considered Japanese, yet a Japanese could come to the US and become an American.

I just found out that a friend of mine from Switzerland is going to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America next month.Welcome to America, Ralf. We're proud you chose our (now your) country.
P.S. Do you know how I can open up one of those secret Swiss bank accounts I've always heard about? ;^)

Welcome Aboard our Ship of State, Mate!
It's a wonderful thing to travel to another
country, pursue your dream of a new beginning,
and realize that in your heart you can love
two nations much as a child can love two mothers.
Good Luck!
