Tehran, 16 Nov. (AKI) - The sole defendant in the trial for the death of Canadian photo-reporter, Zahra Kazemi in Tehran in July 2003, has been acquitted by an appeals court. The court has absolved Reza Ahmadi, "because the inquiries carried out to date on other accused have not been satisfactory, it is not possible to condemn one of the co-defendants". Kazemi, 54, a Canadian of Iranian origin, was arrested in June 2003 after taking photos of demonstrations outside a Tehran prison. She died in a Tehran hospital on 10 July 2003 after falling into a coma, having received head injuries during more than three days of interrogation.
Kazemi's son, Stephan Hashemi, contacted by phone in Canada, said the sentence was "not surprising, given that we are talking about justice in a country where reading a book is a crime punishable with prison or torture".
Hashemi told Adnkronos International (AKI) that he did not expect anything from the Tehran courts. "What I want is an international trial against the murderers of my mother, whose only crime was to conduct honestly her profession as photo-reporter".
In April this year, the Iranian Judiciary rejected the Canadian demands to return Kazemis body and to hold an independent autopsy, arguing that Kazemi was Iranian and that only the Iranian judiciary had jurisdiction in this case.
According to a parliamentary inquiry, carried out under the previous legislature, the orders to kill Zahra Kazemi came from Tehran's chief prosecutor, Saiid Mortazavi.

Shahram Azam, who said he was an emergency room doctor in Tehran's Revolutionary Guard Hospital at the time, contradicts the official Iranian assertion that 54-year-old Zahra Kazemi died after she fainted and hit her head.
Azam said Kazemi had numerous injuries including a damaged skull, a broken nose, broken fingers, missing fingernails and toenails, a smashed big toe, a ruptured left eardrum, battered feet, evidence of a flogging and bruises all over her body.
Azam said that as a male doctor in an army hospital, he was not allowed to examine Kazemi's genitals. A female nurse who tried to insert a catheter noticed "brutal damage to the genital parts", he said.

Your Home Page is the ROCK, I am so humbled in your presence.
I will Bow Bow Bow (three times, at least) as I scoot away in my most humble but self confident manner, knowing that I have spent just a short period of time in the presence of a master.
I recommend a visit to all!

So where is Amenesty International on this one? Oh, I forgot their Iranians and that is the religion of Peace and Tolerance. They wouldn't torture or beat anyone now would they.

PING!
Can you hear those a&&holes who are criticizing our military and accusing them of torturing terrorists if they are mean to them? Describing this poor woman's injuries shows what real torture looks like. The sadistic animals who did this deserve no mercy, and so do their enablers in the American Left.
