They had a show on brewing beer on the History Channel last night. Apparently women did most of the brewing in a lot of places in ancient times since it was considered to be like cooking. It wasn't a high honor it was a chore.

There's a lot of equality in terms of how men and women drink in the highlands of Andes

In England brewing Ale was under the supevision of women, during the middle ages, it tasted like bread, now it is under the supervision of men it tastes like Ale.
