You are unbelievable Dolly making such a complete loving tribute to COB.
Yes, he touched all of our hearts in a big Texas way and was a great witness for God.

So I guess I'm finally going to ask what exactly these "Few of FR's Finest" threads are about. I mean...please explain.

Dolly forgot to mention that our very own *Billie* created the 'Finest'.

A fine tribute to Cobby, Dollly.

Welcome, PC, hope you come back often.

Wonderful tribute Dolly - though I did not have the good fortune to correspond with TC I had heard of him and had on one or 2 occasions visited the prayer thread. He sounded a great man - God Bless his family at this time.

Jhn 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jhn 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

Jhn 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.

Jhn 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as [my] Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

We know that the passing of our FRiend TC is not a thing for weeping but of comfort. He is not dead, he lives, ascended with God as a believer coming unto him through Jesus Christ.

thank you for your notes. He & I had a short time of many note exchanges on guns over a year ago(he was giving me advice). I most admired his determination to be involved & love little Logan. Wish I could have met the gentleman ...and from what I have read & heard that is a truly appropriate name - GENTLEMAN

The cycle of life is quite difficult, isn't it - saying goodbye for now. I know many of you became quite close to TC over the years and there is no denying that the Logan/prayer threads & concern etc is a tremendous bonding force. The family/friends that pray together..stay together?

Lysie and Star.. thank you for your additions. I didn't mean this post to be a conflict w/the remembrance thread(did cross link there) but did want to add my tribute here as he was one of our Finest & participated in this thread until he became ill. Also as a hostess here I try to post most of my news, thoughts etc.

As it is a large post didn't want to post a a lot of threads & use up broadband. I might put it on the tribute/passing page eventually.

Last weekend I began two posts for this thread. They both became VERY large and I ended up doing separate threads on them, and the topics were not of strong interest here.

There was a lot more I could have added to TC's tribute. Better get going. Would like to break the cycle of running late for worship!!!

Have a good Lord's Day all.. see you later.

Don't Make News!

Read:
1 Thessalonians 4:1-12

You should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God. —1 Thessalonians 4:1

Bible In One Year: 1 Thessalonians 1-5

cover A story in our local newspaper reported that a $1.73 billion highway and mass transit project in Denver, Colorado, was nearing completion on schedule and within the budget. But the story wasn't on the front page. In fact, it was tucked into a sidebar of brief summaries in small type on page 3 of the local news section. If the project had been plagued by fraud, delays, and cost overruns, no doubt it would have been headline news.

I've decided that "Don't Make News" might be a good motto in life. If we lie, cheat, and steal, that's news. If we live honestly and morally, we can have an unnoticed yet effective spiritual influence on people around us.

When Paul commended the Christians in Thessalonica for showing love toward each other, he urged them, "Aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands . . . that you may walk properly toward those who are outside" (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12).

Since our goal is to please God in everything we do (v.1), it makes no difference whether anyone applauds our actions or not. We are called to be faithful, not famous. Bad behavior sells newspapers. Honesty and integrity honor the Lord. Don't make news! —David McCasland

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause,
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame,
I'd rather be true to His holy name. —Miller

The world's applause cannot compare to the Lord's approval.

Thinking of Cob1 made me wonder what happened to ofMagog. I sure do miss him too!

It's been a really long time, and I don't know if he has kept in touch with anyone or not. I hope he's okay.

great thread Billie, thanks for linking it here.

The Finest threads have come a long way in *style* (more beautiful tables & sleeker vignettes and headings mostly!) since Lori and Daisy and I started it, but presenting a FReeper's story hasn't really changed. And times like this especially, I'm really glad that he let us profile him.

Your tribute to TC last night is beautiful, Dolly - collages are your *thing* - and it was so nice to see TC's smiling face from so many places in his life.

Forgive the ping to so many - I saw your question, pcottraux, and just wanted to include you. I posted a link last night to the thread a little over three years ago where TexasCowboy (Cob1, as we knew him then) was our featured FReeper.
