Los Angeles -- An inmate was stomped to death after he cut in front of two gang members in a dinner line at the Men's Central Jail, officials said.
"They took upon themselves to teach (the victim) a lesson," Sheriff's Capt. Ray Peavy said Thursday. "This was a brutal crime."
The attackers spent 10 to 15 minutes beating and stomping the victim's head Wednesday while other inmates looked on, officials said. The men were among 30 inmates locked in a room unsupervised to eat dinner while deputies searched nearby cells for weapons.

There is a line waiting for a spot in the prisons to open up. Just drag out his corpse, and send in the next prisoner to fill his bunk. These guys may have found the solution to the overcrowded prison problem.

A transient from Georgia? Either he wasn't taking his Risperidone or he had a death wish.

A hand full of jailers are going to jump into a hostile mob of prisoners. And these days they are restricted on the type of force they can use. I'd suggest that snippers come in pick off the culprits. But,NOOOOO! Some poor unfortunate convict might get hurt. Never mind the rights of the victim.

When I get on the train in the morning, most people queue up in front of the train doors roughly in relation to their proximity to the door when the train pulls into the station. There is invariably some jerk that tries to cut into or flank the line. I wouldn't mind if they hired these California gang members as conductors on my train.

Even I know cutting in front of anyone, much less a gang member is a poor decision.

Perez was behind bars for investigation of murder He was in prison for investigating murders? I assume this means that he was in jail for murder, and that the media is trying to obscure that fact.
If so, then this poses a problem for death penalty opponents, doesn't it? Murderers who are put to death can never kill again.

A new meaning for "Death Row (or line)"
To: Airborne1986
Of course, they are taking the INMATES word for it!
Since there weren't any jailers who actually witnessed this happening.

Exactly someone should be criminally prosecuted for failing to protect this prisoner. And LA will justly be forced to settle another settle a huge law suit.
