It's not stupid. It gets Murtha off the front pages by forcing the Demcrats to vote against his position.
He's going on Meet the Press Sunday with the votes of every Democrat against him. How is that going to look?

The congress is on time out.
It already does work. You either voted on something this important - where you go into an election and either say you are for or against the war and we should bring the troops home.
You stay and vote, and you are on the record as either being so weak and French that you could only get elected in Massachusetts, San Francisco, or Berkeley
or
You go home without having voted and then have to answer as to why you chose not to put yourself on the record for something this important.
Also, if Bush is attacked by a non-voting house member on the war issue, they will get hammered for not voting.
I'm sure Jean Smith has some testorone, but what I saw looked like good old honest anger.

I agree. It time to put an end to a one sided debate. For the past 2+ years the MSM/DNC cabal has been hammering J.Q. Public with "the President lied" "Bring them home now" etc. 7 X 24.

This is John Murtha's bs argument, to wit, if you haven't served then you have no voice. Well, lots of us have served and most of understand just how specious that argument is. The Constitution never mentions serving as a requirement for a damn opinion.
