Was anyone aware that Murtha was in the Marines, served in Vietnam, and is the foremost military expert in the history of Congress? The media never seems to mention that.
Also I heard that John Kerry was in Vietnam and that Sean Hannity is selling a book...
Murtha's district is very pro-war. He keeps getting re-elected due to the gerrymandered district and the power of incumbancy to hand out tons of pork to a low-income coal mining region.
The 12th district is NASCAR loving, gun loving, beer loving country with rednecks right out of a Jeff Foxworthy routine. It has a higher proportion of men and women enlisted in uniform than any other district in the state.
CBS learned about this and thought "Humm, poor people with lots of sons in uniform, let's go interview the moms and find more Cindy Sheenans." For all their interviews CBS could not find a single mom to criticize the war on camera.
Flight 93 crashed near here. The 9 miners who were trapped and given up for dead were miraculously rescued here. This is hard working mining country. Pro union but very conservative on social issues. Very religious, with a church every few miles. Mainly Baptist and Catholic with a large Mennonite/Amish minority. Very anti-abortion, very pro-gun, very anti-gay marriage.
Murtha's actions are insulting to his district and to its voters.
But they will re-elect him anyway (sigh).
John Kerry was in Vietnam???!!! No Way!!!! If he would have mentioned this last year he would have won the elections! (end of extreme sarcasm).
