Within the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering department I only saw one (1) white male employee during the extensive time I spent up there this month getting the cities "sign-off" on a commercial building project for my engineering firm...

The majority of the people working there were middle-eastern Iranians, Pakistanis, a smattering of Chinese and Indian nationals...And more Afri...Black Americans in that near "do nothing", "come back next week", "top heavy", mis-managed city organization that I care to comment any further on...

Remember, I just don't have any reason to embellish any of this...Its just what I observed...

I'm just glad I got that thing through their "system", whatever that was...

And to think Houston government claims to be business and development friendly???

Nothing new here. When I finsished by graduate work in the early '90's, most of the recruitment ads I saw were essentially the same thing. Everyone in Canada is scared of the PC police that they hang onto the same "White Men Need Not Apply" mentality. That's why I'm immigrating to the U.S. I was disgusted by the fact that 'C' students were getting lots of job offers before they graduated simply because they were either women or minorities while the 'A' white, male students couldn't even get an interview. From personal experience, I sent out over 100 resumes in 1 month nead graduation and received zero replies and 12 'refused by addressee' Most of my buddies were in the same boat. I sent 5 resumes to the U.S. and I got 3 interviews and 2 offers.

As far as I'm concerned, Canada does not care about ability, only about it's PC image as being a socialist paradise.

Maybe they were already soaked up by other similiarly racist organizations.

Supreme Court of Canada alread reviewed similar cases and decided that it is not racism or even discrimination because ot was against white men. In Canada, the logic goes, that white men have had high rank in power and priviledge in Canada, therefore, that offsets any discrimination against them based on race. In other words, it is perfectly legal to discriminate against white men in Canada because they are not an under priviledged group. Only women, visible minorities and the disabled have legal protection because they are under priviledged.

It is far kinder for an employer to state clearly "White males need not apply" than to go through a ruse of interviewing whites with no intention of employing them.

Maybe thats the problem, people think of what is kinder, rather than what is rational.
