What am I missing in my Roman History education? Isn't Caesar supposed to say, "Et tu Brutus?"

I did not see or hear that when he was butchered by the Senate and given the coup de gras by Brutus!!

What am I missing in my Roman History education? Isn't Caesar supposed to say, "Et tu Brutus?" I did not see or hear that when he was butchered by the Senate and given the coup de gras by Brutus!!

You need to check this thread and some history books. "Et Tu Brute" was coined by Shakespear. The only thing we historically know are the perpetrators and that he was killed in the Senate near Pompey's statute.
