Its true that the rioters look rather less foreign than, say, the stern young men in the mosques of Peshawar or the training camps outside Jalalabad. Who can be stern in Paris, save a concierge who needs a ride?
Ah, youth!

For a minute there, I imagined Charlie and Saddam together on the couch. And then said .... wait a minute, that's Mark writing (not Charlie). Don't know what Mark looks like. And besides, I think Charlie would just slap Saddam silly if'n he had the chance. Of course, doesn't really have anything to do with anything now does it?

On the San Antonio news last week, they showed a murderer being placed into a police car. The young man had murdered his girlfriend in Round Rock, then a security guard in San Antonio.
His final words to the televison cameras was "Allah Akbar". Only one channel (ksat) showed him saying those words, and explained it was an arabic phrase praising God.
None of the other television stations showed the Allah Akbar phrase. And by the next news broadcast which covered the murders, the lone station (ksat) which had showed it had edited it out. I found the editing interesting.

Mark Steyn produces the antidote to mainstream media.
I've been sending emails with his hardest-hitting columns to friends, trying to get them interested in his work.

Mark Steyn's overarching point is not hard to miss. Even as Western liberals are confused are about what they believe in and who they are, their adversary is made of sterner stuff. He has a faith and knows he is a good Muslim. The West, wrapped up in its a shallow materialism is in deep denial. That's why Islamofascists believe the West lacks the will to defend its way of life. Amidst its ease and comfort, what they hear reinforces their conviction that given enough blows, the West will eventually disintegrate. And even if it doesn't fall prey to terrorist attacks from abroad, it will collapse from within from its own pessimism about its own future. Say what you will, its by no means clear the world's future in the next several decades is necessarily a Western one. The writing is on the wall.

I read Mark Steyn's colunm first when the latest National Review arrives in the mail. He is a true wordsmith.
I know well his point about the terrorist murderer filth frequenting ti##y bars and prostitutes. I have had "devout" islamics work with and for me and they almost invariably loved going to those type of things. Of course, the women were not nice islamic girls gone bad, they were just infidel women so what's the big deal?

The last paragraph is the killer, and one of the sharpest observations made by the always sharp Mark Steyn.

My neighborhood convenience store owners(yes they're arabs)have assured me that the Paris riots had nothing to do with Islam. It was all all about racism and poverty. At least they aren't blaming president Bush.
