NYC is the closet thing to Paris America has. Boston and SF are runner ups.

Both! Which I am surprised by.

Every Saturday, the N.Y. Post has a real estate supplement. It's amazing reading; to say the least. They showcase various sections, give prices for what things have sold for, have a separate place for listings, trends, and lots of pictures. You just wouldn't believe what's going on! :-)

Even the mayors a thug. He days "If you don't like it. Get the Hell out."

Things are going to get dark and soon if they don't clean up city hall.

Funny, I always compare it to London! LOL

Chicago and Boston are very similar cities. If you have seen Chicago lately, you should. I'd place Chicago closer to Paris, than Manhattan.

What does a rehabed 1200 square foot flat in black Harlem go for these days?

Shocking that anyone would knock my hometown of Detroit. Kwame is going to spruce the place up for the Superbowl with vinyl 'building wraps' on the abandoned dowtown structures. They're coming back!

Yep. You could not pay me to go into certain areas in Charlotte--day or night. The suburbs are generally OK.

Recently, in the last five years or so the entire state of NC has undergone a huge influx of Spanish speaking illegals. The crime reports in the Charlotte paper are frequently filled with Hispanic names.

This is added to the indigenous population that has its own high crime level and the situation has gone from bad to worse.

The police chief needs an additional 90 officers and the county/city boards d/n seem to want to fund them.

A million plus; to buy.

The rent depends on various things...but it isn't what one might call "cheap".

Chicago is too, too slow, and provinicial, as compared to NYC. But putting aside the weather, Chicago is my favorite city in America. I lived there for 5 years for college and business school. It is a very livable city.

Yikes. That is about twice the price in LA, in a not black neighborhood.

Yes, but it IS very much like Boston; maybe better.

I lived there for about 17 years and my daughter and s-i-l live there now.

You wouldn't recognize it now!

Harlem is NOT "all black", by any means. And the rehabbed apartments, at the north end of Central Park, are deluxe now. And though mixed, getting to be mostly white.

The pace in London is more like NYC than Paris, but the analogy I was drawing was between a chic inner city, and more drab suburbs, except in certain areas. London has a chic very inner city, but then you need to go to the city fringes to find the gentry, and the areas outside the city, are still very bourgeoisie. The mindset is more American, than French.

¿Qué?

¿San Jose? ¿El Paso? ¿New York? ¿Austin? ¿San Diego? ¿San Antonio?

NO did not have 500,000 residents before Katrina, and will certainly not have that many in the forseeable future.

Doesn't it seem odd that cities like LA, Chicago, and New York are not on this list?

My thoughts exactly... Something is not right here!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm...most of N.Y.C.'s suburbs aren't "drab".

Hampstead is FABULOUS! There really isn't anything in N.Y.C. to compare to it.

Chicago is much more like Paris...now.

How many years have you not seen Chicago?
