I work for a service company that does business in Canada and Quebec. Any paper reports that we produce in Quebec have to be in French for select clients. I would imagine this is nothing more than an extension of this existing legislation.

I figured that would be your response. Thanks for being a bastion of sanity.

One other thing I do like about Canada is Peter Mansbridge and The National. Once in a while, they do latch onto a good story and do some actual reporting. Of course, it is always liberal and anti-American but usually interesting.

I can also count on an overabundance of submarine stories as well.

It's like those French have a different word for everything.

French and Liberals: The Masters of Weasel Words. Ya gotta give them credit, their words still fool people about their true intentions.

Liberal has nothing to do Liberty....just the opposite ":(

Most Canadian are just like most Americans. Work, raise their kids, want to pay less taxes and want less gov't in their lives. But there is this underlying current up here that thinks that is not so. As if Canadians and Americans somehow are from two different worlds (forget the logic that both countries were born out of the same crop of people that forged both nations) The MSM and to some extent gov't sponsored entities (for their own pecular bureaucratic reasons) have fostered this notion that both peoples are different and thus have decided on divergent paths for the future direction of their nations. Too bad. If there is two nations that have shared ideals about individualism, democracy and freedom it is Canada and the US but watching the Canadian MSM you would think otherwise.

cheers!

For the most part I do find that true. The majority of the anti-US arrogance seems to be in Quebec. I was at our company facility there once and was introduced to a guy. Within 5 minutes, he was spouting all this nonsense about how superior he was because they did not allow guns.

Oops, he picked the wrong guy to get into that argument with. I won.

Except the conservative movement has not yet taken hold....we have our fingers crossed, however.

Most Canadian are just like most Americans.

At basic levels like what sports they follow, what daily clothes they wear, or what food they eat (and even here Canada eats more explicitly British-origin food like fisha and chips). In the same way that the London 7/7 bombers adopted British ustoms, Muslims rioters in Clichy-sous-Bois wearing hip-hop style clothings.

But there is no doubt many Canadians differ on the level of important issues like whether the state's power derive from the people, or people's power is granted by the state, and whetehr order and peace is more fundamental to liberty. They they do seem to comprise the majority of Canadian population.
