So... bliss is ignorance?
That does not mean that no one loves you - it means that more people do, than you (or I) will ever know. ;)
It wouldn't be so bad if they just were honest about it.
Ain't that the truth!
It makes lots of sense to me.....
Depressing article. But then, see my tagline (which, fyi, took a lot of research to compile.)
This article makes sense to me, too. Looking back the most times I did the most damage to myself and others was when I was the "happiest" and confident and cocky ... and that was most of the time. After suffering depression of my own off and on for months at a time for the last 10 years or so I've learned a little "empathy". Must be that "God" guy ... giving me something good even when I don't deserve it.
"Miserable people must be around other miserable people. Then they're happy."
Yeah, I think this goes along with a lot of other easily intuited facts about human beings.
Certain mindsets, even disorders, can lead to great achievements or capabilities in certain areas. The person slightly detached from reality may be capable of incredible art and imagination that mere mortals could only hope to understand. The person who suffers from asberger's(or is that with a 'p') may be an excellent mathematician or scientist. Depression can lead to an incredibly sensitive emotional 'compass' or strong observational skills.
most of our greatest comedians carry a great deal of pain from their personal lives.
It's the extremes of these conditions that are detrimental to the individual but the tendencies of some of these 'disorders' can actually be beneficial as seen in the context of a particular talent or skill.
I have had mold problems so I completely understood the mold part, but now I am not sure what you meant. ?;]
Marvin was the only character in the "Hitchhiker" movie that made it worth watching. Even then I shut it off after about an hour. Maybe I just didn't "get it". But this guy was funny.
The question is, how do you get from 'clinically depressed' to 'mildly depressed'?
I agree. It was a tough thing to turn that book into a movie and make it work. But the "So Long..." song was pretty catchy.
I believe a heatened awareness can lead to depression.
Example; I live in chicago. My congressman is Rahm Immanuel, my two senators are Dick Turbin and Barak Osama Obama.
If you have any awareness of your enviornment this situation would be deprsiing to any republican or decent American.
Fascinating! And these results result in...what? An understanding? Of what? And, how does it actually help anyone? Never mind - they've probably got a Part Two grant lined up to figure out how this will help anyone.
I agree, especially with the reason that the non-depressed aren't as in tune. However, I think with the depressed it is a matter of empathy, the ability to put oneself in another's shoes.
You think YOU have reasons to be depressed?
(Congressb!tch Maloney has trouble *reading* questions prepared by her staff. There's no possibility that she *understands* them.)
It is something I have known first hand too.
I agree with you totally. I have suffered from panic disorder and my doc says I'm just too smart for my own good. Our brains go into overdrive with critical thinking. We tend to be very sensitive and creative and I believe that applies to depressed people too. We are smarter than most, but we sure pay a price for it. I'm not sure it's worth it sometimes! I wanna be dumb!!!!!!(but never a lib!)
