BAGHDAD (Army News Service, Nov.21, 2005.) -- Task Force Baghdad Soldiers successfully repelled a terrorist attack near Jisr Diyala Nov. 15.

Two terrorists were killed, one was wounded and two suspects were detained after the exchange of fire in the Baghdad suburb. There were no American casualties.

“We received small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire from the edge of a small village,“ said Capt. Michael Burgoyne, commander of C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry. “We immediately placed well-aimed fire on the enemy and killed one and severely wounded another.”

Iraqi Police evacuated the wounded terrorist to a nearby medical facility.

“We could see the terrorists trying to maneuver on us and they were attempting to mix with civilians who were in the area,” said 2nd Lt. Arnold Lee, a platoon leader in C Troop. “We used good weapons discipline to engage the terrorists without hitting the civilians.”

After engaging the enemy, troopers moved into the village to search for more terrorist activity.

“The Squadron massed forces for the most effectiveness,” said Lt. Col. Michael Johnson, 3/7 Cav. commander. “All elements of the Squadron were able to provide the necessary assistance for this mission.”

In the town, the troopers conducted a hasty cordon and search.

“One terrorist tried to escape in a van and was killed,” Burgoyne said.

During the search for more terrorists, two additional suspects were detained.

“I think (the terrorists) were testing us,” said Col. Joseph DiSalvo, commander of Coalition Forces in east Baghdad. “I imagine the only thing they will have learned by this is that they should not provoke us with small-arms fire; the outcome is almost always certain when terrorists try to engage us -- they die.”

Strong words from the greatest military in the world! We need more strong talk and even more strong actions...and get rid of these monsters for once and for all!

One thing I have found fascinating about this particular war and its effect on the military fighting it is the premium it is placing on marksmanship. Some of the journalists report that they can tell who's shooting by how it sounds - if it's full-auto it's the jihad jockeys, it it's aimed single-shot it's the Americans.

I do recall the latest fad in weapons procurement not so very long ago ran that everyone would be shooting stubby high-cyclical zip guns in the future, that "wall-o-bullets" was the way to go. It seems pretty clear that that's not what's working in Iraq.

It has to be drugs that drive your base terrorists. First, you never see a higher up leading them and you know it's because they're aware of the deadly outcome. It has to be drugs.

The lessons of wars through the ages that a skilled marksman able to get off aimed shots in rapind succession is better than hosing the area. Aim small miss small.

Yet another military press release that will get ZERO coverage by the MSM.

The military issues these every day. I really got steamed when the whole "Bush did nothing for Katrina" lies started from the Left. www.navy.mil, www.af.mil, and www.army.mil had story after story up about forces in the LA/Miss area and ships ALREADY providing support before the P.O.S Governor of LA and the criminal mayor of N.O. had time to think. If these media "experts' wanted to know what was going on Sunday during the hurricane and the Monday after, all they had to do was visit these websites to know the USS Bataan was on station in N.O., the USAF was moving supplies into the area, and the National Guard (117,000 of them) were mobilizing to provide aid. But then that would show the President in a good light....

Yet the Left just keeps lying and lying...

I am currently using http://www.strategypage.com to also get stories out.

Wanna laugh? try http://www.zombietime.com to see these antisemitic "Death to America and Israel" haters in action. The site is a collection of photos and videos secretly taken at "anti-war" protests. Sickening, but also funny.

I'm near Redstone and they don't show up much. I take it the "death to America" types are even worse in person because you can smell the pot smoke and unwashed bodies and actually hear their "debate" style (which amount to shouting and threatening).

Did they give you any death threats or were they actually bordering on civil that day?

They were well behaved other than obscenities. We had the local Constabulary there keeping a watchful eye on them.

Well, at least their pre-school maturity and low vocabulary levels are consistent.
