H RES 523,10-28-2005; BILL TITLE: Condemning Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejads threats against Israel
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2005/roll556.xml
383 YEAs, 0 NAYs, 1 voted "Present", 49 Not Voting
TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; Government; Israel
KEYWORDS: 109th; ahmadinejad; hr523; iran; israel
I hope it was okay to put the link to the roll call vote as the source because that's where the votes are and the title of the bill.
I assume the 49 Not Voting were absent when the vote took place. As for Ron Paul, the only one who answered "Present", he is a "no foreign entanglements" person.

As for Ron Paul, the only one who answered "Present", he is a "no foreign entanglements" person. Yeah, Europe was full of those last century.
Iran says destroy Israel, I'm to believe Ron Paul can't condemn evil because he's concerned about "foreign entanglements".
IMO, he can't see evil.

Does this resolution mean we can start bombing in 15 minutes?
I miss President Reagan.

I'm sure that means my "representative", Congressperson Jane Harman, was able bring herself to vote for it.

I have a feeling it was done to impress a few Democrat Jewish voters. Otherwise it seems to me to be a waste of time.

In a few year every RAT will say his vote was wrong and he was duped.

Based on Ron Paul's contributions to his political campaigns, I don't think Republicans in Texas have much support for him. He must be too far to the left on most issues because he had no opponent in his 2004 election.
He did run for president on the Libertarian ticket in the past, but he could not run on that ticket again because he has voted against most free trade deals including CAFTA. He's more of a Pat Buchanan type jerk.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul
Libertarian Party spokesman George Getz said that thousands of libertarians across the United States donate money to Ron Paul's campaign funds. Campaign disclosures reveal that 71.4% of contributions to Paul's coffers come from outside his home state of Texas.

The House of Representatives DOES vote on a lot of resolutions that merely express their opinions, but it's good to know whose side they're on. The following resolution had no opponents:
H RES 38, 11-8-2005
BILL TITLE: Expressing support for the accession of Israel to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

391 YEAs, 42 Not Voting

GREAT POST, Thanks...

- calls on the United Nations Security Council and all civilized nations to condemn and reject these statements and to censure Iran for its statements and for its policies aimed at destroying Israel;
- further calls on the United Nations Security Council and all civilized nations to consider measures to deny Iran the means to carry out its threats and to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons; and
- reaffirms the unwavering alliance between the United States and Israel and reasserts the commitment of the United States to defend the right of Israel to exist as a free and democratic state.
S333 -Sense of Congress Regarding Diplomatic Assistance- It is the sense of Congress that--

- representatives of the Government of Iran should be denied access to all United States Government buildings;
- efforts to bring a halt to the nuclear weapons program of Iran , including steps to end the supply of nuclear components or fuel to Iran , should be intensified, with particular attention focused on the cooperation regarding such program--
- between the Government of Iran and the Government of the Russian Federation; and
- between the Government of Iran and individuals from China, Malaysia, and Pakistan, including the network of Dr. Abdul Qadeer (A. Q.) Khan; and
- officials and representatives of the United States should
- strongly and unequivocally support indigenous efforts in Iran calling for free, transparent, and democratic elections; and
- draw international attention to violations by the Government of Iran of human rights, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and freedom of the press.
