And you can be damn certain that I will be a very hard sell on anyone asking for deferment if, God forbid, we institute a draft.

I don't need their adulation. As the appointment letter stated, hopefully my services will not be required.

Wow. Would you actually have to take a bullet for the president?

Oh, wait. That's the SECRET Service.

Can you positively influence the USAF to reconsider lifting certain age restrictions on non-Reserve USAF veterans seeking voluntary return to active duty status?
Reduction in rank accepted.
I am not yet 50, healthy, and capable of passing standard physical fitness requirements.
Plus I have acquired more cunning, and yet retained a realistic view of my place in the overall strategic planning phase of my position.

The responsibility doesn't even come close to the magnitude of an Infantry company commander who, given an order, must send his men down a street with the certainty that they will encounter an ambush.

Nope. I admire your sense of duty, but all us old soldiers need to remind ourselves that we must fade away to allow the young tigers their opportunity.

I suspect there are other forums where you may be more comfortable.

Actually the more those freaks at DU think Disk Cheney not getting a deferment is exciting news, the longer it will take them to figure out they have no ideas whatsoever and are perennial LOSERS

It's always good to hear of someone achieving their goals ... you have reason to be proud.
