Y'all be careful out there...
My daughter's best friend and her parents were driving down from Maryland to N.C for Thanksgiving yesterday and were involved in a four-car accident. Mom was killed instantly, Dad has multiple fractures and is on a repirator but is expected to make it, the girl has no serious injuries. When,if ever, will the carnage on our highways end?
Ban cars.
Lot of people making jokes on this thread. It's sad that we've become numb to this horrendous carnage going on all around us daily.
Too bad we couldn't take a few hundred billion dollars and put it toward safer highways and vehicles.
After more than 20 years of hurtling my two tons of automobile at 70MPH down our highways - and still being passed by tractor-trailers just inches away, I'm surprised that there aren't more deaths out there than there are. There are a bunch of maniacs out there!
What can we do to stop the carnage?
How about if we test people's driving ability and knowledge of driving rules? Then, if they pass the tests, we could issue them a license.
What do you think? Is that a great idea, or what?
Then we can pass a law requiring lower speed limits and mandatory seat belts, make manufacturers install air bags, and how about this -- no driving while or after drinking?
That would probably eliminate all accidents and deaths, wouldn't it?
Well, it would raise lots of revenue for the various governments and police departments involved, give people a false sense of safety, and in the process help to deprive people of the notion that they themselves need to be alert and behave responsibly if they want to stay alive.
