Volunteers working with the Common Grounds Collective,
a non-profit community service and relief organization based in New Orleans,
gather under generator-powered Christmas lights
strung at the corner of North Robertson and Louisa in the Ninth Ward.

And, perhaps, even more inspiring if there were someone there to see the lights [other than the do gooders who put them up]. Did these same people ever put up Christmas lights in the Lower 9th Ward when it was fully inhabited? Not likely.

It just seems like an awful waste of fuel and unnecessary wear and tear on a generator that could be put to much better use.
