It is the only for way servers to make a living wage. Call me heartless but the servers need to be paid by the restaurant owners. I still give 15% post tax total on average, but it has to be good service. Slow gets 10%; piss me off and they get a dollar.

I can put up with bad service, if it isn't the norm. Some people are in training or someone called in and they are running behind. Things like that are understandable and they will usually apologize or explain. Two things really bother me though. One is a "hoovering" waiter. The other that I won't tolerating is an employee that gets berated by his manager for a mistake in front of everyone. I'll call him down and report it every time.
