Parents Sue After 14-Year-Old Daughter Died with Birth Control PatchI would think that a 14-year-old girl would have more important priorities in her life than to have sex.
To: Coleus
The patch has a huge list of side effects and the manufacturers make that clear in their ads and the literature. Nobody forced these parents to give this poison to their daughter. They made this deadly choice for themselves.

Those who had sex with her should be charged with statutory rape. If any were adults, they should be hung by their you know whats.

Almost every drug both over the counter and prescription have potentially deadly side effects. You cannot eliminate every risk in life, the rationale course of action is to establish an acceptable level of undesirable outcomes and live with that.

This is not good. Scary because I attempted to get one of our grand daughter's to use the 'patch'. Glad she didn't.

Sexually active 14-year-olds weren't a major problem back when they simply got married and went to work. There is now a record gap between puberty and marriage. Unintended consequences.

When the parents of 14 year-old Alycia Brown of La Crosse Wisconsin found out their daughter was sexually active, they did what the modern culture told them was the right thing to do; they put her on birth control, choosing the popular hormonal patch instead of the Pill. I'm old enough to remember when the culture told the parents that the right thing to do was for the father to grab the boyfriend by the collar and get in his face and tell him if he ever laid a hand on his daughter again ...
Maybe you are too young to remember those days, but it seemed to work pretty well. Problem is, I don't know if it would today. Kids would probably call the cops and report the incident as an assault.

Gee, who do you call to complain?
Planned Parenthood? Maybe Barbara Streisand would know...

This controlled substance is being sold even though it causes fatalities. Is that more socially irresponsible than Enron? The only thing Enron stole was money.

I tried the patch for about 2 months and I had nothing but trouble. I would break out in the area the patch was, I had breakthrough bleeding and I ALWAYS felt nauseous. Good thing I stopped when I did.
