Anti-"Sport Hunting"

Posted on 11/26/2005 11:22:01 PM PST by FranklySpeaking

Any psuedo "sport-hunting", posing poser, tree-standing, duckblinding, inadequate, floundering, hunterering bozo who wants to kill any defenseless beautiful animal like any one of these needs to check and re-check their thinking. God is watching.

I've been harvesting and consuming bear meat for over 35 years, and it is great meat. You have to take care of it a little differently from the time it hits the ground but it does not have to be smoked to be good.
Bears are actually a member of the pig family, and that is the way you have to treat the meat. Coll it out fast, cut the excess fat off and cook it well done. I don't know why they didn't put a picture of wild hogs up too. I always eat what I kill.

If God didn't intend for us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If God didn't wan't us to be eaten by Grizzly bears, tigers, sharks..why did he make us out of meat ?

I agree 100%. "Sport hunting" is a disgrace, in my opinion, if it is done strictly for the kill and the trophy rather than, at least partly, for good eating and warm coats. The friends who I let bow hunt on my property love the meat, and they load me up with all the venison I want, including the deer jerky I put in my kids' lunches. If I thought that these guys just wanted to hunt for the sake of killing animals, I wouldn't let them down my driveway. And by the way, people who shoot bears for the "thrill" of it are sick. Probably homosexual. Bear meat is virtually inedible unless it is smoked big-time by people who know how to smoke bear meat. /rant ---I respect that reply....except for the "trophy" part. No Trophies are needed, except for the weak show-off type of folks, IMO.

Your blanket disapproval in your original post held no such reservations and your "most are not" is your opinion..

You eat beef and chicken? I see hypocrisy.

That is my opinion.

God gave us a brain to make the difference. I've taken all of the big animals on this continent with my bow. I've never left the meat.
If you don't think hunting is a sport, stick a bear at 10 yards with a pointed stick without a firearm withing a mile. I think the biggest sport is hunting something that hunts back with a bow. It's not for "talkie cowards."

Nice flamebait. Do you cry about the millions of lifeforms you killed when take antibiotics? Or not because they aren't cute 'n' cuddly?

I would say a lifeform that counts is a lifeform with a well developed nervous system that is aware of its existence, is consicous, can self locomote and feel pain, pleasure, emotion, etc. Under this definition, crops that grow in the field and microbial organizms don't count, but farm animals are not crops even though modern civilization treats them as such.

You one of those so called vegetarians I take it?

Are you as nice to humans as you are to animals?

I have found most animal rights advocates are cruel and mean spirited people.

Indeed, we should live with nature's innocent creatures in peace and harmony, just as they do with each other.

Granted. But humans are not natural carnivores. The taste for the flesh is an acquired taste. Any animal that cannot digest meat raw is not a natural carnivore.

Trappers are the most grievous.

It's fur we wants, not food. Baby wants beaverskin. Trappin sure beats bash baby seals over the head. The latter is dangerous work as those bull seals can take a hunk out of you.
