Those measures lost because Arnold wrongly tried to get them in traditionally low turn-out off-time election after stimulating campaign rage in well organized union activist units all over the state. They already had their battle plan in place from the June 1998 Primary Election where they defeated Prop 226, a nearly identical measure!!!

You guys are really starting to make yourselves look kinda uninformed by pushing that "New Republican Majority" spin-o-rama against CA conservatives in all it's glorious wrongness!!! Get a grip and check out the facts before you go off the deep end next time, ok???

Republicans failed to vote along with other third party types that failed to vote are what screwed this up.

Granted we can make a case that our Republican state machine is pathetic and did little to get the Republican vote out, but we were not the party of personal responsibility at all here in CA, we were the party of lazy folks who were too damn busy to bother voting on major issues.
We as a state are pathetic and absolutely deserve what we do to ourselves.
