WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) released the following statement regarding the War on Terror and the military operation in Iraq.

"The president today called Iraq the central front in the War on Terror. He urged Americans to remain firm in our effort to defeat the brutal terrorists who would think nothing of killing innocent people. He's right. Even Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, a Democrat, recently returned from Iraq and said, "Progress is visible and practical." Iraq is on the frontline of our effort to protect the American people, and it is only right that we stay on the offensive. I have said many times that none of us wants to see this war fought on American soil, in Chicago or New York or Washington, D.C. or any other American city."

"Unfortunately, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has added a new twist to Democrats' retreat and defeat policy for the War on Terror. Now, it's bait and switch. Just 12 days ago, she was among 403 House members to overwhelmingly reject a proposal for immediate withdrawal in Iraq. Now she is endorsing the Democrat proposal for immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. Today, she told reporters, "I will be supporting the Murtha resolution

5 months ago J Fn Kerry was still braying that we needed more troops in Iraq. Today he was saying the Pres. wasn't smart enough to understand that our troops were part of the problem and we need to reduce the number right away.

America must be a light to the world, not just a missile. Nancy Pelosi

America will be far safer if we reduce the chances of a terrorist attack in one of our cities than if we diminish the civil liberties of our own people. Nancy Pelosi

I have absolutely no regret about my vote against this war. The same questions remain. The cost in human lives, the cost to our budget, probably 100 billion. We could have probably brought down that statue for a lot less. Nancy Pelosi

Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process. Nancy Pelosi

The president led us into the Iraq war on the basis of unproven assertions without evidence; he embraced a radical doctrine of pre-emptive war unprecedented in our history; and he failed to build a true international coalition. Nancy Pelosi

We must remain focused on the greatest threat to the security of the United States, the clear and present danger of terrorism. We know what we must do to protect America, but this Administration is failing to meet the challenge. Democrats have a better way to ensure our homeland security. Nancy Pelosi

"The Dems are doomed."

Don't get cocky. Our Republican "leadership" will figure out a way to squander this opportunity, too.

Democratic retreat and defeat policy--that bears repeating.

The Dems are doomed.

They have an appeal to some voters that is irresistible.

I think every time some Democrat gets up on the floor of the House or Senate and suggests withdraw or pull back the Republicans should once again call for the vote.

If only this were the headlines of the MSM news. Funny, but people used to look at those of us who saw the outrageous bias in the news as kooks. Never mind that we saw it way back then, and the dems have not altered their ways since the spotlight (thank you Rush & other high profile conservatives for exposing them to the big fat world!).

Nancy Pelosi is such a 'hair on fire' commie liberal that she cannot help herself from making such disastrous boo-boos. The woman is very dangerous and has a hair trigger temper. Someone with some sense in this government surely has some goods on this looney-toon biatch. It is time to expose Pelosi for what she is: A traitorous Communist.
