What would Murtha have said in January, 1942? At that time what was left of the Army was broken. There wasn't much left to be worn out. We didn't have much of an Air Force. A good deal of our Naval power was sitting on the bottom of Pearl Harbor. And German U-boats were sinking merchant ships within site of the east coast and there was little we could do about it.

I guess we should have asked the Japanese and the Germans for terms at that point. Maybe Murtha thinks things have to get that bad again to justify a fight. Murtha is a tired old man who should just step aside.

Of course, he has the right to say what he wants, but when the media makes a deliberate choice to circulate his remarks far beyond what they would do for another elected official of a different stripe, we have to question both intention and purpose. And, maybe, even start to think about challenging broadcast licenses in the public interest.

I wish some Rs would turn the "broken and worn out" phrase against the 'Rats and start proclaiming that it is the Demagogic Party and its leaders which is "broken and worn out"!!!!!!! That phrase could become the new tag-line to describe the demagogues who are trying to drag the mission in Iraq into their puerile and pathetic world of defeat and surrender. I'm sorry, Rep. Murtha, if you think your honored military service makes your word in politics unquestionable, but there are lots and lots of other distinguished veterans who now despise you for your recent attempts to degrade our military and our government.

cumulatively waste people's time - I won't argue with what Jim wants to do, its his baby, BUT, I appreciate sometimes when there is a repost (this one was 6 hours later). I personally think (IMHO) it should be okay to re-post maybe after 3-4 hours, for those people that only come on a couple of times a day and maybe do not spend their day here.
