Stalking the Day Laborers
Time Online ^ | Nov. 28, 2005 | TERRY MCCARTHY

The Minutemen could be heard before they were seen. First came the bullhorns barking "This is America, not Mexico" and "No work today. The Minutemen have arrived." Then the group of two dozen men and women, holding U.S. flags and cameras in their hands, turned the corner and started bearing down on Hispanic workers waiting for jobs outside the Macehualli day-labor center in northern Phoenix, Ariz. Sensing trouble, some took refuge behind the gates of the center, and others melted away down side streets. As the laborers fled, the protesters tried to take pictures of their faces. "This is our country!" shouted a Minuteman. "We are under invasion."

The easiest way to fix this problem, is simply institute a $1,000/day fine for each illegal that is hired.

I think that a company that gets a bill for 25 illegals, and we find that they have been working for 6 months, the company gets a fine for 25 illegals x $1000 x 5 days/wk x 26 wks = $3,250,000. That should send a very CLEAR message. The big guys (Wal Mart) quickly learn that the cost savings isn't there; the little guys (who SHOULD know better) are destroyed.

The laws of Supply and Demand will work for us; remove the Demand and the Supply will go away by itself.

Although the demonstrators denied having violent intent, they surely had plans for any photographs they could take of laborers being hired on the street. The pictures would have been sent to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Since when is taking a picture in public violent intent? If they were US taxpayers and someone was sending the pix to the IRS, I might get a little upset.

Well, hopefully you're in America legally, don't loiter on street corners, mob cars as they come by, and urinate in parking lots...

;-)

I was on the receiving end of something akin to this last year while waiting for a bus. (I am a Kumeyaay Indian, so to an ignorant fool, I'm obviously a Mexican.)

Reminded me of what my father told me the first time he took me hunting: "Make sure that's REALLY a deer you're aiming at before you pull the trigger."

The illegals had long dispersed by the time the protestors had shown up, because the protestors had told everyone for over a week how they were going to do it.

At least this time, the Minutemen practiced good OPSEC. Nice to see they got some illegals out of there.

That, plus a border that is actually a border...staunching the flow...is primarily what is required.

As we've said all along:

JUST ENFORCE THE LAW!!

"Since when is taking a picture in public violent intent?"

It's been used by leftists as a means of IDing targets for future harrassment/violence. They do it all the time against the Minutemen.

You'd probably have to do it solely through something akin to traffic court, where the judge can find you guilty without getting a jury involved.

The Minutemen ALWAYS operate within their SOP, thanks.

As usual, you make stuff up as you go along.

The illegals HAD NOT 'dispersed by the time the protestors had shown up'.

You might want to read the article before you comment.

"The Minutemen ALWAYS operate within their SOP, thanks."

That's nice to know. This was a local San Diego group known as "American Border Patrol," and I don't know if they had come up with an SOP.

Nah, just have the IRS collect the fine. Treat it like any other Federal fine, polution, failure to pay taxes, violation of fire codes, ect.

What a hit piece! Amazing.

"Vigilantism"?? The "odor of race baiting"?? These are citizens photographing individuals everyone agrees are criminals, committing what everyone agrees are crimes. But the party to blame for all of this, according to _Time_? The citizens, of course!

Sensing trouble, some took refuge behind the gates of the center, and others melted away down side streets. As the laborers fled, the protesters tried to take pictures of their faces. "This is our country!" shouted a Minuteman. "We are under invasion."

Hmm...what "trouble" did they sense?

What could POSSIBLY be "trouble" for Illegal Infiltrators who are loitering outside a PUBLICLY PAID FOR center!

And why had Phoenix violated INA § 274, which states that encouraging "an alien to . . . reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such residence is or will be in violation of the law."

Hmm..just WHY were they slinking away, and hiding their faces?

Could they be....ILLEGAL?!?!

Next time wear ICE and INS jackets and shirts...maybe try offering Matricular cards on camera!

Time to frogmarch EVERY stinking OBL moron, and Politician on the take form them!

Start with the Phoenix lawmakers and the Zoning Board that authorized it!

No more waiting...no more letters to Congress or el Presidente! It's time to take it back now, and make a stink that makes the Million Moron March look like a pre-school trip!

Shut it down! No more tax payments...pull the kids OUT of public schools...stop feeding the Beast! No more cooperation, time for Civil Disobedience!
