What keeps the enemy from simply building tunnels beneath a wall, especially in sparsely guarded areas? Peripheral mine fields will do nicely.

I've heard that Mexico uses its army to seal off its southern border in an effort to prevent the Salvadorans and others from sneaking into Mexico. Guess they used up all their forces, huh?

A bad neighbor necessitates a good fence!A rotten, corrupt, parasitical neighbor that pushes it's unwanted citizens into your home, your nation, needs the best possible fence
Israel has proven that border fences can be effective. The open borders lobby should stop lying about them
Israel's multiple fence, border fence system. This fence is designed to succeed!! Sensors, surveillance cameras, lots of barbed wire, ditches to stop vehicles from ramming through it, paved access roads for fast armed response etc etc.

We have the technology to pick up human or animal movement for as far as ten miles and seismic sensors that can detect any attempt to remove earth.
We have the means, the knowhow - just not the guts to employ.

It has been reported that as much as 70% of illegal drugs flow into America from Mexico and South/Central America.
That flow contributes some $30-40 billion being sent south annually to cover that purchase.
A secure linear border barrier could help curtail as much as 3/4 of that flow. Ceasing an economic and social drain of $20-30 billion annually is no small change - hindering the flow of costly illegal aliens is an added benefit.

There are detectors that are sensitive enough to detect underground digging. You simply drill a hole and set a charge. Walla two birds with one stone.

No they haven't used up all their forces protecting their southern border. They have left enough on their northern border to protect their drug runners. Thanks George!!!

To hell with "political correctness". Bush should be listening to what America thinks, NOT what Mexico thinks.
----Thank you! Well said.

The entire US/Mexico illegal alien issue comes into sharp focus if one considers government officials as the heads of a very large corporation. It then becomes evident that illegal immigrant labor is nothing more than union busting scabbing. That union is the US population itself. That's an anology I agree with. Couple illegal aliens with work visas and outsourcing, and it's apparent that Americans are being given the finger by their elected politicians.
