I can. Eric Hoffer's book "The True Believer" makes the assertion that people who feel that they did not earn their good fortune (perhaps young Ron jr) feel that they must compensate by "altruistic" actions (as embodied by the liberal left).

It's a good study that supports TS Eliot's quote (ht Thomas Sowell)
