A sure way to get proved wrong is to tell the Israelis that it can't be done and they can't do it.

On Sunday, October 31, 2004, virtually on the eve of the U.S. presidential election, the Majlis, Iran's Parliament, met in Tehran. The 247 lawmakers present of the 290 total considered an inflammatory resolution. The bill before the Majlis would require the government to enrich uranium. The session was carried live on national radio. As the assembly voted unanimously to enrich uranium, the members of parliament took up an eerie chant: "Death to America! . . .Death to Israel!"

The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber is able to penetrate heavily defended airspace, especially at night. The B-2 also carries an impressive weapons load – it was recently re-equipped with a modified weapons rack that simultaneously dropped 80 JDAM GPS-guided weapons from a single B-2. The B-2 flew 43 combat missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom, employing more than 400 precision weapons throughout in the air campaign. Since then, the aircraft has been used to test new munitions to further enhance its conventional attack capability, including JASSM stealth cruise missiles, which allows the aircraft to strike targets from a greater distance; The EGBU-28, which combines both global positioning system and laser guidance for increased operational flexibility (all weather) and adaptation of the 500 pound JDAM. The B-2 previously used this system only to guide 2,000-pound bombs. The smaller warhead enables the B-2 to increase the potential number of JDAMs carried per flight from 16 to as many as 80.

The annual weblog awards have begun and we have been nominated as a finalist for the Best Middle East blog.

They are encouraging people to vote only once a day from now until December 15th. A strong finish will help spread the word about the need for international support of real democracy in Iran.

Where to vote? Click on the banner below.

Vote now and vote daily.

the writer is very funny

"It is possible to determine that at long ranges - more then 600 kilometers - the IAF is capable of a few surgical strikes, but it is not capable of a sustained air campaign against a full array of targets,"

when Iran is contemplating nuking israel, which is hardly surgical, why would israel want to target surgically?

fair is fair and we are talking struggling for survival.

and its not just israel that needs to worry. all of western europe needs to share the concern.

imo

This is very scary stuff. I read the article the other day about only having 4 months to 'do' something. Maybe this is why some people don't like to read the news...

If your Israel....you want to destroy Irans missile launch, storage and assembly.
Time it right and you end Irans gambit even if they have a few nukes.
It works politically....as you defend your position by showing you removed their offensive capability.
so ya...You leave the nuclear facilities in place....and the world has a difficult time condemming your action.
By leaving the nuclear facilities alone...Israel minimizes killing Russians.
They will however kill lots of Russians and Chi coms when they go for the missiles.
The 2 above are going to be rather silent about that in public forum : )

It is a nuclear shell game to be sure.
Iran sets up point defence under the guidance of Russia and Israel...or the U.S. has to figure out what is where.
so ya....the goodies could be in a facility with no point defence at all.
The gambit is that you will not notice or have intel.

Israel and U.S. have the prowess here to know what is where.

You only have to blow a corridor thru to defeat point defence.
a point defence system has millisecs for its circuit protection system to react to EMP and other RF attack.
then there is turn around time on firing banks.

a sustained corridor attack or multi directional attack will beat it.

Iran is just barely financing this gambit.
Their nation is in some serious fiscal trouble.
a failure to keep their missiles could be the final straw which pulls the entire ride down on Mullahs heads.
Iran would need time and money to get back to where they were before they got hammerd.

Israel can achieve this...and can destroy Irans nuclear facilities if they want.
their is reprocussions either way.
The U.S. has to decide wether its in their interest to let Israel do this....or make pledge to do it themselves.
or formally issue in the U.N. that any tactical attack on Israel will be answered by the U.S. military with zenith power.

Iran will lose this gambit.
and....Russia may even be the greater loser.

America does not have the will and Israel does not have the way. Nuclear war is now inevitable, as Iran has made it very clear that they are going to start one with America, Israel and Europe.

Oh well, we knew we could not keep the nuclear genie in the bottle forever. Russia and China got rich letting it out quicker. The socialist's and communists do not care about human life, they figure they can drill through glass. Since this will badly harm free trade society's at the same time it is a win win scenario for them to pour gasoline on the Mullah's fire.I give us a year before complete economic collapse of the world economy, and a bit more for the war from Russia and China to take place. How incredibly Biblical this all is.

Here is the B-2 Spirit launching a JASSM (Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile). The latter has a public range of 200 nautical miles. It was successfully reprogrammed in flight from its mother B-1 in a test last year and that capability is now operational. It can be carried and launched from B-1, B-2, F-15, F-16, and F-18.

JASSM a 2,000-lb class airborne weapon developed by Lockheed Martin, features a stealthy composite airframe that makes it extremely difficult for enemy defenses to successfully combat. Ninety-five percent of the fuselage surface area and load bearing structure is manufactured using braided carbon fiber preforms supplied by Fiber Innovations Inc.

Is the machine braiding this body-snatcher not delicious.

You don't need sustained attacks against a target after you hit it with NUKES.

These guys couldn't monitor and reveal the Russian WMD transports leaving Iraq in the run-up to the war, and people are supposed to think they know more about Israel's capabilities than the Israelis??
