Pelosi is Rove's gift to the Republican party. She is so wacked out, she helps us no matter how badly we do.

If you ever get the chance, go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial.

I did, multiple times, while working on Oahu, and each and every time, I was almost emotionally overcome with grief at what we experienced and the travesty that was that day.

I hope that the WTC and Flight 93 Memorials get straightened out and don't become "Islamacized" the way they seem to be right now. Fortunately, Rummy could control the Memorial at the Pentagon, and it is straightforward and as American as they come.

I can and will never compare the 2 days - Dec. 7th and Sept. 11th. They each hold their own special horror.

But they are both days we were attacked, and innocents died because of the evil in other men's hearts.

Never forget. Never forget either of them.

I'd also prefer that the "get out now crowd" would remember that we are fighting WWIII, that was started by the use of our own jets as bombs, on 9/11, and that it is better that we fight them over there than over here. If the insurgents and terrorists weren't going into Iraq to create bedlam and mayhem, where on earth do you think they'd be???

Yep, right here in America. They'd have the time to make plans to take out OUR trains, buses, planes, and our Memorials, or attack DC again.

I confess. One of the reasons I wanted to move from the DC area, as much as I loved driving through DC - and I did so, at least, once a month, enjoying the views of the White House, the Washington Monument, Tom's Place and the Tidal Basin, is because I didn't want to be living 6 miles (by air) from Washington, DC. Hearing the F-16's and choppers flying over my house incessantly after 9/11, in protection of the President, just convinced me that I needed to live away from a "hot spot" - like NYC or DC.

I maintain that the F-16's and the choppers did their U-turn for their overflights over my house - I heard them every night for months, and long after the rest of America seemed to be forgetting that we had been attacked, I still had the nightly reminded that all was not yet well.

Like AliVeritas, I went to more Funerals in the weeks folloiwng 9/11 than I have in my entire life, and I hated it. I went to 9 at Arlington National Cemetery and felt like my heart was being ripped out of my body with the playing of taps.

It bothers me that my nephew in Hawaii, so isolated from the mainland, has never bothered to check to see if he lost anyone he grew up with in, in Syosset, LI, NY. It bothers me that he just doesn't react the same way about 9/11 that I do, with sadness, hate, vitriol, patriotism and payback all in the same breath.

But he is a reminder to me that most of America is like that. The further away from "ground zero" they lived, (all THREE of them), the less likely they are to care and remember and they just don't have the vivid memories that those of us who lost friends, family and co-workers do.

Now I'm going to listen to Tony on the replay from Noon to 3 EST.

Cya tomorrow on the "live" thread.

They can't stand that Clinton was impeached and Bush isn't.

They have become the party of people who cannot be happy for anyone else.

A touching post, TNT, and an appropriate one for Pearl Harbor day.

[Nicely said, schoolmate.]

What can I say. I have my beliefs and I really don't have an opinion about what others have. I offer "Merry Christmas" but I don't expect it to be offered by others.

You are very astute in your observations on a lot of issues and you have got it right on this one also.

Merry Christmas to you also and if you don't like it, then pretend I didn't say it. ;).

Thank you for your lesson from God's word.

The last year of my Mom's life, she had had several life-threatening heart attacksin November, and at Christmas, we decided to celebrate only the birth of our Savior. We exchanged gifts on Jan. 6th, remembering that that day is the day the Magi gave their gifts at the Manger.

It was and has remained the BEST Christmas of my life. The first Christmas untainted by the rush of present-buying, etc. We could concentrate on going to Church, and singing carols while I finished decorating the tree, and trying to do a little decorating around the house.

Then Jan. 6th, my Mom and I opened our presents to each other. We both had decided, independently of each other, to give only one gift, one significant gift.

On Jan. 23rd, my Mom went to be with her Lord.

I've never forgotten what a wonderful season that was, even though for me, it ended with her death.

I commend the separation of Christmas and gift-giving to everyone. It sure changed the season for me. My friends and I have continued this separation as well, as I just can't go back to gift-giving on the 25th, except to remember THE gift that changed my life.

(And yes, I'm listening to Tony on the re-broadcast. I know I won't get many replies, but I'm following the thread with y'all, as you listened to the regularly scheduled broadcast. I'll miss not getting a surprise answer to a rhetorical question from Tony, but it's the price I gladly paid as I wanted to hear the President's speech, live and in it's entirety, and I DID!!!

LOL. I have two cats and I am debating about putting up a tree. My dog is quite well behaved, however, and would not undertake to water it so that would not be a problem.

LOL! When in doubt, leave it out. :-) Why go advertise to the cats that they have a new toy, complete with lights?

No need to pretend,I do like it and it represents what the Season is supposed to be about. Folks of different persuasions, setting aside their differences, to come together and to share a tradition of good will. [Not a time to prove who is the better among us...a contest which I, unfortunately, would not win.]

So Peace and Joy back at you, fellow FReeper.

You are in a thoughtful mood today, my friend, TNT. Must be in the air. You discovered the real meaning of Christmas which many of us have forgotten. It is a religious not a commercial season. [Despite how it has evolved in the market place.] And birth is a time to reflect on death, for that is our cycle. Some live as if they are immortal and will never cross over. The military I think has allowed you and I to confront those thoughts at an early age, and I feel much the better for having done so.

Now, lunch beckons, so you will have to trudge on without the benefit [?] of my commentary. 8)

See ya, tomorrow.
