What I think really happened is 80 - 90% of those people in N.O. chose to stay behind to loot. Well, that choice came back to bite 'em in the a$$ bigtime. Now they are trying to divert the attention elsewhere.

Just my opinion. Maybe I'm racist? /s

The Katrina survivors that were on Cape Cod complained that there were too many White volunteers.

Actually Houston is listed as the nations most obese city by Mens magazine. New Orleans is on the list but pretty far down I believe. Google it, it's not hard to find.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is paying an estimated $3 million a day for nearly 50,000 hotel rooms for hurricane victims. The agency had set a Dec. 1 deadline for moving families out of hotels and into more permanent housing, but later extended the deadline to Jan. 7.

The hotel program has cost the agency at least $300 million since Katrina hit on Aug. 29, followed by Hurricane Rita on Sept. 24.

But the saddest thing of all - If she did move back, she'd still vote Democrat.

The hotel program needs to stop. I think it was very neccesary at first, but its been three months. People are bending over backwards to help evacuees get jobs and housing in their new cities. Even the lowest paying jobs in New Orleans are offereing huge bonuses. If haven't found employement by now, you probably aren't trying. Of course if you are used to living on handouts, the idea of honest work would be unseemly and a lot of evacuees see Katrina as nothing but a chance to get bigger handouts than they ever have before.

"Do these idiots realize that the more they are out there b!tchin' and moanin', that the American people are more and more likely to slowly close their wallets and put them back in their pockets?"

Yup. Look at South Central LA after the riots...they were blaming everyone but themselves for the damage/destruction. I don't think many rushed in with open hearts.

Immigrant Blacks to this country look at these people as lazy idiots, as they should.

Whiners! Get out and help yourself! We evidently got some of them here in Helena- I donated an old microwave and when the minister came to get it said one of the guys who hadn't worked in NO got a $40,000 truck driving job here! So I guess the work is there if you get off your butt and look for it. I only donated to pet rescues there because I didn't like the blame Bush mentality.

A hurricane is "genocide and ethnic cleansing"? I agree that the government response, on all levels, stunk, but a hurricane is still a natural disaster, not an act of government.

Thompson said she's now living in College Station, Texas, and isn't sure if she will return to New Orleans. "We won't be missed because we were never wanted anyway," Thompson said.

College Station probably doesn't want this societal sponge either.

Excuse me--doesn't the congress have anything better to do than hold these worthless hearings? Is this what we're paying them for?
How much tax money was flushed down the toilet on this stupid fiasco??

With that attitude, why would anyone want you to come back?!

I suspect the people of College Station Texas want her to go back.
