It is easy to play arm chair quarterback after the fact.

This was part of the point in my post.

Just as you probably did not take into account that when I wrote this little piece , information on this event was relatively spotty.

Do I feel bad for the man and his family? You bet I do. This was a tradegy, and what is happening now is a tradegy. People are using this mans death as a political tool to move their agenda forward.

So how do we avoid this type of event in the future?

How about anyone with any kind of mental problems or disorders should be required to present an airline with some medical history on their condition , and/or verify they have taken their medication , before boarding a flight. Although there will still be people who ignore any requirements like this , so it wouldn`t be fail-safe by any means.

If they did enact a requirement like this, the ACLU would fight it tooth and nail as well.

How about getting rid of all Air Marshals? But that isn`t going to happen either because people wouldn`t want to fly knowing they had no protection from a hijacker or terrorist.

So whats your solution? I don`t think I read that anywhere in your post.

I guess you also didn`t hear that when the man reached for his backpack the Air Marshal`s guns came out. Would you have rushed the guy with a gun pointed at him?

Or do you think the Air Marshal`s should have rushed him, probably going against what they were trained to do.

Its a tough deal, the man is dead. But it takes these kinds of things usually to change policy. But I don`t think the Air Marshal should be called a criminal as I have heard some do already in the media.

I was kind of joking when I wrote this, but it seems my feelings of what would happen were right.

I don't think there is a solution. My only problem is that anyone who exhibits unusual behavior gets a gun pulled on them.

Would the same thing happen if an Autistic person did something weird while boarding a plane? This case tends to answer that question in the affirmative.

Terrorists do their best to dray attention AWAY from themselves.
