Local Kansas City TV News reported that the prof has resigned. There are also unconfirmed reports the attack was faked and the cops found out.

I'd LOVE to get a source or link on this.

I believe it was reported that he took a drive in the sticks to "clear his head." Looks like he took a dive and needs to clear his name instead.

My bet is that no only have they seen it, but it has been thoroughly discussed on IM, and the verdict is "ignore." But I think the self-designated Grand Master is all-knowing in any case.

We still don't know what happened. And that was never the point, rabid Wolfie. The point was the glee that your buddies got at the possibility he was beaten. And then of course there were the posters who spoke approvingly of blowing up abortion clinics and the actions of Eric Rudolph. Is that what you support too little Wolfie? I didn't see anybody speak against the call to blowing people up. Even when challenged to.

Lawrence, KS-- The Kansas University Professor at the center of a controversy is stepping down. Paul Mirecki handed in his resignation as the Religious Studies Department Chair. He will still teach religion classes at the University. Mirecki wrote a derogatory email about his plan to teach a class on intelligent design. He got beat up Monday by people he says targeted him in retaliation for that email.

Lawrence, KS -- Kansas lawmakers say they have some questions for a University of Kansas professor after a e-mail he wrote appeared on a Yahoo listserv.

Religion professor Paul Mirecki sent the e-mail to the chairman of the religious studies department discusses a new class, titled "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationisms and other Religious Mythologies."

In the note, Mirecki writes, "The fundies want it all taught in a science class, but this will be a nice slap in their big fat face by teaching it as a religious studies class under the category mythology."

He signs the note "Doing my part (to upset) the religious right."
