A 6th peace prize bid for Williams - (Tookie has 'probably saved hundreds of lives') BARF Alert!

For the fifth year in a row, a Bay Area philosophy professor has nominated condemned inmate Stanley Tookie Williams for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing the Crips founder's postconviction writings and other efforts to keep youths from joining gangs.

"He's a peacemaker because his message has connected with thousands upon thousands of people," said Philip Gasper, who chairs the philosophy and religion department at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. "Mr. Williams' voice has a resonance and a credibility with children."

If his conversion to anti-gang advocacy "is a ruse, it's a ruse that has had a wonderful effect," Gasper said. "He has probably saved hundreds of lives."

Williams was convicted of the 1979 shotgun murders of a convenience store clerk in Whittier (Los Angeles County) and of a couple and their adult daughter at their Los Angeles motel.

In 1996, Williams published "Tookie Speaks Out Against Gang Violence," an eight-book series for children ages 5 to 10. Two years later, he published "Life in Prison," aimed at teenagers.

His "Protocol for Street Peace," posted on the tookie.com Web site, has been used by rival gangs to broker gang truces.

Gasper's latest nomination -- endorsed by 32 other professors from the United States, Canada, Britain and Australia -- came less than a week before Williams is to be executed at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday at San Quentin State Prison. Gasper acknowledged that his announcement at a news conference was intended to highlight Williams' case, one day before the inmate's attorneys plead for clemency before Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Williams' critics have pointed out that around 150 people are nominated for the peace prize annually. The state attorney general's office said last week that over the years, nominees have included Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin.

I do not care what people say he has done since he has been in prison.
He murdered 4 people in cold blood and he has to pay the price for taking their lives. How many of his victims family members are still affected by his blood thirsty acts? His action, his murders still haunt the victims families each and every day. He deserves to die. He deserves to pay the price for what he did. Any and all money he receives should go to the families of those he MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD!!!!

Tookie has 'probably'

Notice the word probably. Along with "If" and "maybe" epitomizes the ethos of the liberal mentality.

They live in a hypothetical world. Or what I like to call La-La land. All their arguments start with "What if" or "If". For example: "If we all loved each other there would be no war" or how about this one "If we can somehow talk to our enemies". These people have no concept of reality.

Conservatives are realistic because we see the world in black and white, right and wrong making moral, economic and basic judgments easy. Liberals struggle with anecdotal reports an "nuance" to form opinions. Leading to an incoherent person like our beloved John Kerry

Well put, lady! This animal sold POISON to OUR BLACK CHILDREN to make himself rich. He killed people in cold blood. Regardless of what he may have done since then, he must answer for those crimes. The intellectuals and elites can go stuff themselves.

Tookie has not repented. If he truly had repented he would not be causing the current conflict and the distress it is causing to the living victims of his crimes. If he had truly repented he would have released his books posthumously, given the money to charity and refused and/or rejected the attempts by others to keep him from his punishment.

Hundreds may be "saved?" He has thousands of deaths on his hands thanks to the Crips. And that's just in L.A. alone. Only laking in a defined nation state, he's like Saddam or some other heinous individual responsible for widespread policies of death and mayhem.

If I was Ahnold, I would let justice run its course--let the killer fry.

Furthermore, I would declare a partial martial law for L.A., more specifically South Central, in the debt of night and deploy the National Guard so they would be in position to quell the coming riots.

"and deploy the National Guard so they would be in position to quell the coming riots"

I live in LA.
Not neccessary to deploy anyone as no one at all seems to care anything about this POS.

Support for this turd is nothing more than media whoopla.

Just for the sake of argument, do you think the Maxine Waters and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton crowd will pass up a chance to riot and loot at the drop of a hat?

I don't see (granted, I'm in La.) where riots have ever been reasoned based.

Maybe, but it seems the confluence of events......holiday season, colder weather, not a tremedously awaited hi-profile verdict etc...will support whatever these turds try to stir up.

The rioting type of jerks might though be swayed by the opportunity to loot and steal some neato Christmas presents for their families.......sigh....who knows.

I do think that Bratton and Baca are tough enough they'll crush things quickly if anything does happen...."stamp out the sparks" if you will.
