The man was a brilliant musician and regardless of his antics (if we were to hold every public figure to such standards, we'd hate everybody), he deserves the accolades and tribute bestown upon him.

Brilliant musician he may have been. I never cared for his stuff myself.

However, if ever there were a worthwhile cause for inventing a time machine, it would be to go back to 1966 and tell Lennon to "Shut Up and Sing". Repeatedly.

That ... and avoid Number 102, Southampton Row. At all costs.
