As with any "generation" there are the good and the bad. There were plenty of good Boomers who rejected the selfishness and kept American running. But the sort of Baby Boomer most often portrayed in the MSM is not that sort of person unless you read between the lines, for example, in the movie Apollo 13.

I resent the stereotype of boomers as being liberal and selfish. I cut my political teeth on Barry Goldwater's 64 campaign. Most boomers were not liberals, hippies, drug users or hedonistic. The only real problem with boomers is our numbers.

None of the Apollo astronauts were from the Boomer generation. Most of them were born in the years of the Silent generation (1925-1945), and a few were born prior to 1925 (Hero generation). See The Fourth Turning, Strauss & Howe.

Nothing in the Apollo program was done by boomers. Boomers like to take credit for the moon landings, but the work was done by the WWII generation. Boomers can take credit for the space program since about 1985.
