Its a shame that the greatest generation raised the worst generation.

The Greatest Generation wanted to spare their children, the Baby Boomers, from the misery and sacrifices of their own childhood and young adulthood during the Great Depression. What they failed to realize was that that misery and those sacrifices were what made them "great" and by sparing their children those things, they turned them into eternal children who don't know how to be like their parents.

It's no coincidence. When an artistic media is finally perfected, it is always followed by dissent and experimentation by those who can't stand to live in the shadow of greatness. It happens everywhere this way, expressed as wave-like peaks and troughs of human activity.

Seems that the depth and wretchedness of the latter is directly proportional to the height and beauty of the former. Which bodes well for the coming decades....

The term "Greatest Generation" was coined by a guilt-ridden Baby Boomer.

IMHO, the true "Greatest Generation" was the World War One generation. That generation won World War One, struggled through the Great Depression and still managed to raise the geneartion that won World War Two.

The World War Two generation won World War Two but raised a generation of spoiled brats.
