Tables turned on robber

Marc Dixon was arraigned on a charge of felony armed robbery yesterday, sporting injuries police said were from a pistol-whipping he received from a female clerk using his own handgun.

Dianne Duval, who has run the store along with her husband for the past 17 years, said yesterday her voice was still hoarse from yelling at the would-be robber...

A masked man wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the store with his revolver pointed in the air and yelled, “Give me your money.”

“He followed me behind the counter, put his gun down and turned his back to me and went to grab the register,” ...

“That’s when I picked up the gun and cold-cocked him over the head.

“I can’t tell you exactly how I swung that gun — I just grabbed it, swung up and over and went for his head,” ...

She said the suspect was unable to remove the cash register because it was still attached by a cord, and when he was hit, he dropped it and put his hands to his head.

He then took the gun away from her, ran from the store and escaped ...

At his ...arraignment...Dixon was sporting two black eyes and a cut over his nose...a large amount of blood was found at the scene.

Dixon tried to purchase “either cocaine or heroin” before the attempted robbery.

Dixon was on probation after an altercation with Milford police in October 2004.

He had been arrested on an outstanding warrant for negligent driving and for assaulting a Milford officer while resisting arrest.

His 120-day sentence had been suspended, but those charges will again be brought forward at a hearing Monday in Milford District Court.

Dear Diane,

Next time don't hit him with the gun. Just aim it and blow his worthless brains out.

That’s when I picked up the gun and cold-cocked him over the head.

It would have been even cooler if she said "Merry Christmas, mother trucker"!

I like a good story, with a semi-happy ending.

Note to storeowner: Treat a pistol as a club AFTER you have expended the catridges.

“That’s when I picked up the gun and cold-cocked him over the head."

She should have pointed the gun at his little head and hot-cocked him.

Perhaps, but depending on the local laws, SHE might have ended up in jail!

It's always possible she might have been arrested. But it would be an unusual jury that would convict a frightened female who shot a naked robber.

Well, she was lucky. He took the gun back and could have shot her.

True. But juries do some strange things these days, and I doubt that was on her mind. The guy was nekkid?

why didn't she just try to reason with him, you know, talk it out, reach out to him and help him understand different points of view and how we can all resolve conflict and live in peace and harmony? She could have offered him a packet of honey peanuts or something. Bad girl.

She was lucky. BTW, can you get two black eyes by being hit once in the head with a gun?

Did you read the same article above that I did? Methinks you have your stories mixed up. :-)

My guess is she wailed away on his head until he was incapacitated. Instinct, and she might not remember it in detail. Yes, black eyes can be a result. Means broken blood vessels
