Rummy will resign as soon as Kennedy and Kerry do so.

All that quotation from Kristol proves is that McCain is behind the Leiberman rumors in D.C.

Kristol is a direct link to McCain.

McCain hates Rummy because Rummy doesn't defer to the egomaniac even though he served in Vietnam! ;-)

It isn't as though I hadn't already suspected as much, but I thank Kristol for confirming it.

I have not figured out what exactly Rummy did to tick off Kristol/McCain, but this attempt to remove Rummy by these two has been going on for over a year.

Lieberman certainly can't be deaf/dumb/ and blind to the notion he would make a grand replacement for Rummy. Thus far he Lieberman has not made his own intentions clear about this attempt.

Kennedy/Kerry - what a couple of Klowns ... these two are the only thing worse than my two senators in California.

California population..36,000,000
New York................19,000,000
Massachusetts............6,500,000

These three states represent 20 % of the US population and they are represented by six of the sorriest senators in the US Senate.

Two years as SOD vs. six years as Senator in Connetticutt. I really just don't think Leiberman would think the tradeoff was enticing enough to want to be SOD, if the President was even interested in replacing Rummy. Which I strongly doubt.

McCain ratcheted up his vendetta against Rummy in the last year, that is true, but it's been there for far longer.

I'm not certain we'll ever know what the incident that so 'wounded' McCain's pride was. Ex. We Know he thinks the President was responsible for a pamplet in the '00 Republican primaries he disliked. He's not all that different from Gore, or Kerry. He thinks he should be President, and would be, if not for that pamplet and those "meddlin Christians/conservatives".

My best guess is based on character analysis. McCain expected his will be done, Rummy didn't kiss McCain's butt, and now it's personal. McCain has certain goals and anyone that stands in the way he stabs in the back. He wanted to be Prez, Bush became Prez. McCain wants to run this war, Rummy insists as SOD HE will run this war.

I think it will really stick in McCain's side if Rummy exits in '09 with two successful wars under his belt. Rummy will then have established himself in history as being due credit. Mccain wishes to deny Rumsfeld credit in the history books by establishing another in the position, even if only briefly, so they can say his successor is responsible for the success and cleaned up Rummy's mess.

I do agree that McCain is about seeking his own pound of vengeance against those whom he believes took from him what he believes was his.

The sick twisted part of what he and his liberal senator friends are doing is the very thing that they all itch about that was done to cause Vietnam. Historically speaking none of them will show up having honor.
