The state requires that the execution be witnessed. The state witnesses are on one side of the chamber, William's witnesses are on the other.

According to reports some in William's contingent shouted, "The state of California has just executed an innocent man" as they were leaving the witness area.

According to reports, Mrs. Owens (victim's mother) broke down in tears after the incident. Mrs. Owens has publicly stated that she has respect for the position of the anti-death penalty advocates.

I've been very impressed with this woman, who to this day will not allow her state of residence to be public knowledge for fear of retaliation. (Threats have been made.)

Neither Owen's daughter nor any member of the Yang family will make any public statements for the same reason.

No doubt. Local news said the other death row inmates were afraid of him. He had made threats against them and got his people on the outside involved. The reporter said the people at the prison stated Williams was the meanest guy they had ever met.

Thanks for helping me understand the process. Nevertheless his supporters do seem to have abused the privilege in front of the victims family.

That is a demonstration of how far downhill our society has gone. Someone convicted of four murders is hailed as a hero by a group of morons, while innocent people have to fear retaliation. Ed Asner, Mike Farrell, Bianca Jagger, Jesse Jackson, and all the rest of the celebrity wannabes can STFU.

Now that Tookie's gone, I'll bet the media makes sure that her home state and other personal info is "accidentally" made public. They won't forgive the people "responsible" for Tookie's death, and will want revenge.
