NEW YORK Put reporters on the lecture circuit and they sometimes say things they might not even utter on a cable new roundtable. This may have happened Monday night at Drew University in New Jersey when Howard Fineman, Newsweek's chief political correspondent, said that the Washington Post's celebrated journalist Bob Woodward had become a "court stenographer" for the Bush administration.
Fineman told a crowd of about 300 that Woodward had gone from being an outsider "burning the beltway" under President Nixon to being, "an official court stenographer of the Bush administration," according to an account in the Daily Record of Morristown, N.J.
"He's a great reporter," Fineman said of Woodward, "but he's become a great reporter of official history."
On the subject of Iraq coverage, Fineman said that many editors tend to think Americans care little about foreign news. "I think they are underestimating the American public," Fineman said.
At another point, according to the newspaper, he said, "the news about news is bad."
I wished Woodward had a personality of a mean cantakerous SOB and he just rips all the anklebiters.
The MSM eats their own.
I guess it beats the rest of the MSM who are acting like court jestors (also known as fools)
Fineman is bought and paid for by the DNC.
Obviously, Fineman feels the need to bring Woodward back to the "right" way to think about things.
