***Worship of the colors red and green has no scriptural basis in the Bible. So how can the situation above be construed as "anti-Christian"?

Those of you desperately concerned with Christmas trees and colored cupcakes really need to read what the scripture has to say about idol and false gods...***

Missed the whole point, didn't you?

I've never heard of anyone "worshipping" red and green. BTW: Are trousers ever mentioned in the Bible? I don't think so. So when are you going to stop wearing trousers? Also, electric lights, telephones, and the internet. Where in the Bible are we given permission to use any of those things?

If you can't see the symbolic difference between trousers and a Christmas tree, then I pity you. We don't erect trousers in the living room and dance around them.

Weasel words, another case where euphemasia is called for.

Christmas may ultimately be replaced with MLK day.

Nah. He wasn't gay enough.

If it were really a "deadly serious" war on Christianity, surely they would have banned purple and pink, not red and green.

I stick to the ones verified by repeated, public experience.
You're the one embracing a stereotype, as you admit in your own post. And that's the problem with stereotypes-- they're too general and, therefore, useless.

So, it was to be a "Holi-day" party only?

Which Holy Day is that, do you suppose?

"It says white only for the plates and napkins"

I guess the black students used bowls?

Wow! You're 'logic' is underwhelming as are your ad hominem attacks. For your information nearly every commonly accepted 'stererotype' is based on widely experienced factual events. They have a deep history of culturally cultivated adaptation to reaction with multitudes of different individuals. They are anything but created from thin air; for those dealing with many different peoples, situations, countries, and customs they are invaluable and not at all useless.

Tell me do you ever get out and mingle with real people in the real world? Or do you just sit in your classroom and pass on what you consider to be 'wisdoem' based on your PC canards learned by comparing and sharing dark and limited experiences with other 'teachers'?

You are an angry person, aren't you? Calm down. Be civil. Have a good life.

PS: Please link us to one of my "ad hominem" attacks. [Good luck. You'll need it.]

This is why most families in Plano probably send their kids to private, church run schools. My sister-in-law's family sure did and those schools were huge.

Hey you're the ones with her panties in a twist.

I merely pointed out that people in the real world successfully use 'stereotypes' to deal with the complexities of humanity. You're the one introducing racism and bigotry into the discussion. Me, I'm fine and enjoying the season. Chill out, you're just proving my point as was noted by another respondee. Thanks.

Alas! the saying is still in force and true today.

My grand son had to be taken out of a Public school in Westchester co. New York and enrolled in a private school.

The teachers were not teaching and the Principle and Superintendent refused to do anything. Sadly these two women were more interested in their personal relationship.

The move costs my Daughter $10,000 per year, beyond the $7000 she pays in real estate taxes, in tuition and hugh additional costs in travel.

In the grade school in Harwich Mass. the teachers are involved in teaching the mechanics of Homosexual sex.

There may be good teachers, and I know some, but they are overshadowed by the mindless frauds controlled by the Unions.

As in any profession, there are bad apples. Unions seem to be a problem in some states. We don't have unions here in Texas.

So, I see you couldn't find any ad hominems from me to you. I guess you ought to know what a term means before you use it. Happy stereotyping.

Maybe you need to reread the definition - and understand the difference between an implicit and an explicit statement.

Keep up your replies - you're doing a great job proving my point - unions aren't the only thing that have ruined the teaching profession.

Give me a break.

I am a Plano resident & went to Plano schools. If ANYTHING, Plano is one of the most overtly religious towns in the state of Texas. When I played on the basketball team, we were led to pray the Lord's prayer prior to every game by our dean. It wasn't really an option and my Jewish teammates got to sit in silence during the prayer. Since it NEVER SNOWS in Texas, it is not uncommon to have all white decorations to accompany SNOWFLAKE or holiday parties. When I was in choir, we sang Christian religious songs because they were geared for classical training. We had to fight book burners to prevent banning books like the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe because there was a "witch" in the story and that goes against many hard core fundamentalist religious beliefs. The O'Reilly factor (a show I would watch occasionally) just lost my believability confidence on this story alone because it is SO far off the mark.

Plano's got REAL problems like a subverted suicide rate (due to our 80's scandal), drugs in school and overinflated credit given to a revolving door of transplants that in turn causes the highest percentage of foreclosures and bankruptcies in the state. We've got real problems and to mask them with a made-up war on Christmas is quite insulting.

Maybe Bill O'Reilly needs to spend a couple of days in Plano to find the little war he's causing is all in his head! And that's sad coming from a fellow Catholic.

I'm led to understand that Plano has way more heroin-addicted teens than a town its size should, statistically speaking.

Bored kids with too much money . . .
