Dirty Harry is as much a critique of Harry as a celebration of him.

Think they're watching Man for All Seasons and Red Dawn back-to-back?

10. PCU

While PCU lampooned many of the extremists of the political correctness movement, it also had its own element of political correctness to it. It went to great lengths to make the political conservatives out as homophobic anti-semites that were even more wacked out and idiotic than the radical vegan feminist econazis. I would hardly consider it worthy of being mentioned with the rest of the films in this list.

Watched "Zulu" again a few weeks ago. Some historical error (the pistols the Officer's used to some good effect would not be invented for another dozen years or so) but basically correct to the tactics and event.

Anyone under the impression that single shot cartridge rifles were not effective weapons should take a look at the devastating advancing two line volley fire and the three line (abet Hollywood) stationary fire scenes and take note.

Ping for later.

If there were a top-11 list, I'd add "The Best Years of Our Lives" from 1946.

My daughter, who is one of the most conservative college students you will find, would also add Dodge Ball to that list. Not intelligent but funny and also most Mel Brooks films.

Let me add a few more conservative and Christian movies that college students are watching (me being a graduating Senior ;D):..

Signs..Pretty much shows that "miracles can happen" deals with faith in a higher power-God.

The Lord of The Rings..Standing against evil, against all odds, and with self-scrifice (then there are few Biblical parallels in the movies)

Narnia..Same as above, only that "It is The Passion, for Kids ;)"

Luther..retelling of the Story of the Christian leader, and reformer who (no offense to my Catholic brothers and sisters) God used to bring the Church back from the eave of disaster non-Biblical teachings/practics~

The Island..A very conservative movie that was not PC (even though it has some sex scenes..) it was a stand against cloning and seemed pro-life.

Another surprising one is PAYCHECK..I know most of you are wondering: WHAT IS HE THINKING..well I found that it was almost an allegory for the battle between God (Father, Son, Spirit) and Satan's evil minions (Satan, AntiChrist, and Unholy Profit) from an almost Catholic pov!

Anymore that Ya'll can think of..?

I'm not buying it. This list seems too contrived. How were these titles introduced--by the polster or freely volunteered by the those polled?

Does "conservative" modify college or college student? Are the numbers taken from college library loan records or from local video/DVD rental stores? What makes a student "conservative" (attendance at a Christian College) and how does this factor in?

Don't get me wrong. I've seen many on this list and own several myself. The choices seem heavily weighted by sex (Red Dawn, Dirty Harry, Death Wish). My daughter is quite conservative and may have chosen one or two from this list, but many of her favorites are not there: LOTR, October Sky, Frequency, (anything by M. Night Shyamalan), Rear Window, Shop Around the Corner, Patriot, The Court Jester, ...
