I'm no doctor, but since when is "pneumonia" a contagious disease?
[Pheonix] Hospital Shuts Down After Being Overwhelmed with Patients
http://www.kpho.com/Global/story.asp?S=4307525&nav=23Ku
(CBS 5 News)--A Valley Hospital's Emergency Room was so overwhelmed by patients Sunday it had to set up a triage center in the parking lot.
According to the hospital it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
Nearly every ER in the Valley has been packed recently, in part because we're at the peak of flu season.
But Baywood Medical Center in East Mesa also happens to be the only hospital in a 10 mile radius and the hospital's CEO says, don't be surprised if this happens again.
Baywood CEO Don Evans says some people who end up in ER's probably think they're in worse shape than they really are and should go to Urgent Care instead.
But even so he says the Valley doesn't have enough ER beds for its population.
Several new hospitals are under construction in the East Valley, but they won't be taking patients for months, or years and Evans says he's worried about tomorrow.

I've been wondering the same thing. Sounds like the pneumonia may be a symptom or side effect of something else.

Does anyone remember a quote, either from Tom Ridge just before he stepped down from Homeland Security or Michael Chertoff to the effect that there was some info an attack may be planned around the time of the Hajj 2006? (Jan 8-10th).
I remember hearing abou this, probably around six months ago. I kind of dismissed it at the time as it seemed a long time off but, with this time period approaching I thought I would try to search for the original quote. I've tried google. Anyone have a good memory?
Amen.
I think we will all need peace this year.
Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to get it. Recent reports seem to indicate that the USA will strike Iran's nuclear sites and that such a strike may be imminent. I think we must do this since Israel seems to be preparing to do just the same thing....but I'll bet the backlash for that one will be far more catastrophic than if we attempt the job. My guess is that the White House is singing that "Lesser of two Evils" song.
The problem is (it seems to me) that I think that Iran has learned the lessons of 1980 Iraq and dispersed it's nuke sites far and wide as well as hardening them. I doubt very much if success is possible unless there are a significant number of boots on the ground. It's possible that the ground forces can be limited to SpecOps folks. That would be optimum, as long as they're not called upon to perform actions not normally in their bag of tricks.....like what happened to the SEALs in the Panama OP where they were directed to assault a hangar with over thirty guys. Clearly a job for the Rangers, not a small SpecOps outfit. A lot of those guys got killed due to this mis-utilization.
I hate being tied to the timetable of another country, but I think we have little choice. Then there's those reports that North Korea is developing enough nuclear fuel to create 10 bombs per year. Personally, I don't like the idea of them having even one! Are we going to take them on, too?
Question for the assembled peanut gallery: If we get involved in more military operations and the death toll is high, will the sheeple hold the Republicans to account at the ballot box? Will the RATS be able to get traction on this issue? So far, their efforts have been somewhat lackluster. No matter how they spin the events of the day, it seems that a heckuva lot of real americans just aren't buying their angst. Nobody except their tried and true constituencies like the minorities, homosexuals and globalist whiners.
Then there's the curious lack of terror operations that have been aimed at our soil. I would have bet the farm that we were going to get hit at any time between OCT 05 and 31 DEC 05. Nothing. Now, I'm beginning to doubt their capability to do anything at all. Have we degraded their leadership overseas to such an extent that they're too busy staying on the run to effectively activate a decent plan? If it stays that way, the Administration can claim it was the Patriot Act and use it as a powerful lever in getting more extensive and permanent legislation passed. Not sure I'd want that. What if Hiltlery became President? Such a law would be like giving her the unbridled power of a police state. Would she use it? You bet!
A blessed New Year to you ExSoldier.
Personally, I think 2006 will be a very good year.
Maybe I'm being overly optimistic.
Time will tell.
