Illegal Alien Bill Called Discriminatory
Bill Goes Before Senate Committee Thursday
UPDATED: 7:58 pm CST December 13, 2005

MADISON, Wis. -- At the state Capitol more than 1,000 people are fighting against a bill that cracks down on illegal immigrants.

Right now, illegal aliens can get a driver's license in Wisconsin.

The pending legislation is trying to stop the practice in order to prevent terrorists from using the loophole.

The bill already passed in the Assembly, and will go before a Senate committee on Thursday.

Many people in the Latin community say the proposed bill is discriminatory.

"I think the group feels that it's not good because it really won't be safe for anybody," said Bethel Lutheran Church Pastor Pedro Suarez. Suarez was speaking on behalf of the Latin community. "It won't be safe for the people who won't have a driver's license because they will not be prepared."

The group believes the bill would not be safe for other drivers because many illegal immigrants won't have car insurance.

Supporters of the bill say they don't want Wisconsin to become a haven for terrorists.

...many illegal immigrants won't have car insurance.

Pedro, speaking on behalf of the Latin community, should be jailed if he knows of or is harboring any illegals.

The quote from Pastor Suarez makes absolutely zero sense - not that I expected it to.

Safe? Prepared? WTH is he talking about?

Bottom line - driver's license free-for-alls in most states are a thing of the past. They are one of the easiest methods of controlling immigration since W and his dancing RINOs refuse to do so.

I'm quite certain that a higher percentage of uninsured drivers are illegals. Scratch that - they ARE insured, except you the responsible taxpayer/policy holder are paying for it! Again! Land of the free! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

It sidesteps the issue: they shouldn't be in this country in the first place!

I cannot understand why Mexicans think this bill is discriminatory....they do not have a patent on being the only people here illegally, 9/11 showed us that...

Yes,it is discriminatory. However, most civilized countries do discriminate against CRIMINALS!

Why is discrimination a bad word anyway?

Everybody discriminates.

Stores discriminate against people without money.

You are not permitted to walk on interstate highways, that is discrimination against pedestrians.

Logic necessitates discrimination.

In this case we are discriminating against individuals (not a race) who have entered this country in violation of the law. As MBB1984 said this is discrimination against law breakers not a race, religion or nationality but those who are in this country in violation of the LAW.

Many people in the Latin community say the proposed bill is discriminatory.

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

In the "new America" discrmination will be punished to full extent of the law.

States need to pass laws to outlaw drivers with out of state licenses issued by states that license invaders.

If the federal courts decide to force states to accept these out of state drivers, then the war can begin.

I'd love to see the airlines, who would be more at risk, also do this. Just imagine some of these liberal Wisconsinites coming up the the check-in station only to be told they couldn't fly. Betcha there would be an immediate change of heart -- or a lawsuit saying said lib had his feelings hurt.

Many people in the Latin community say the proposed bill is discriminatory.

That's because "many people in the Latin community" are here illegally.
