Pres. Bush was just on LIVE - he's mad (vanity)
12-17-05

Posted on 12/17/2005 7:26:12 AM PST by STARWISE

He's mad .. and rightfully so. Without any notice, his Sat. radio address was televised live. He's putting Congress and the press on notice that he's got the authority to do what he's done to protect US .. that Congress was notified at least a dozen times about these NSA oversights .. and that the press leaks and any such security leaks are illegal and are aiding and abetting the enemy. Whoo .. fireworks to come, and go get 'em W!

I'll not hold my breath while I wait for the prosecutions.

Yep - to the MSM these are "good" leaks (leaks that damage the Bush Admin. and the War on Terror).

Typical MSM and Fox has become MSM. They have to keep the pot boiling. To actually portray the truth the alert should say; "President Bush Acknowledges legally Authorizing NSA Eavesdropping. " Leaving that out makes their headline a lie.

Argh. They (Dems in Congress, some of the RINOs) are so transparent, it's shocking.

The only one whining is you.

When freepers think it's a good idea that the president exposes the left's lies, you call them whiners.

And now he's doing it, and you're calling us whiners? Get lost.

Why can't we outlaw the likes of Cindy Sheehan? And a number of other n'er-do-wells. I'd like to see Sheehan prevented from re-entering the U.S. (just read she's protesting in Spain).

WASHINGTON — President Bush said Saturday he personally has authorized a secret eavesdropping program in the U.S. more than 30 times since the Sept. 11 attacks and he lashed out at those involved in publicly revealing the program.

"This is a highly classified program that is crucial to our national security," he said in a radio address delivered live from the White House's Roosevelt Room.

"This authorization is a vital tool in our war against the terrorists. It is critical to saving American lives. The American people expect me to do everything in my power, under our laws and Constitution, to protect them and their civil liberties and that is exactly what I will continue to do as long as I am president of the United States," Bush said.

So, What is the Whine All The Time Choir's complaint about this going to be?

My guess - "He didn't give us the same background information that he saw!!!! He cherry-picked the intelligence!!! I never would have authorized this if I had known!!! WAH-WAH-WAH!!!!!"

Bush Acknowledges Approving Eavesdropping

By JENNIFER LOVEN Associated Press Writer
Dec 17 10:40 AM US/Eastern

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Saturday he personally has authorized a secret eavesdropping program in the U.S. more than 30 times since the Sept.

Angry members of Congress have demanded an explanation of the program, first revealed in Friday's New York Times and whether the monitoring by the National Security Agency violates civil liberties.

Defending the program, Bush said in his address that it is used only to intercept the international communications of people inside the United States who have been determined to have "a clear link" to al- Qaida or related terrorist organizations.

He said the program is reviewed every 45 days, using fresh threat assessments, legal reviews by the Justice Department, White House counsel and others, and information from previous activities under the program.

Without identifying specific lawmakers, Bush said congressional leaders have been briefed more than a dozen times on the program's activities.

The president also said the intelligence officials involved in the monitoring receive extensive training to make sure civil liberties are not violated.

Appearing angry at times during his eight-minute address, Bush left no doubt that he will continue authorizing the program.

"I intend to do so for as long as our nation faces a continuing threat from al-Qaida and related groups," he said.

So Congress knew about this all along and yesterday while debating the Patriot Act they acted like this was new information? Color me furious!!!!!!!

I believe Hugh Hewitt, or someone he had on his show yesterday, said they knew about it the whole time, as did the NYT. They purposefully timed the disclosure of this information to coincide with the renewal of the Patriot Act. The 'rats and the MSM ARE the enemy within.

NSA, through Echelon, has spied on Americans for years and years so I really don't get the big deal that Congress had with the Patriot Act.

Echelon was the creation of "intel" by partisan Democrats in the various agencies.

Feingold seems to think that terrorists are entitled to due process and privacy while they are plotting their attacks.

Unfortunately, so does McCain.
