Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), failed presidential candidate, must think he has a future in comedy. Problem is, no one else thinks hes funny.
Kerry commented to a veterans group in Boston, Kerry said, "If we take back the House, there a solid case to bring articles of impeachment against this president.
That knee-slapper bombed as a joke and now Kerrys staff is scrambling to provide cover for his statement.
The Boston Globe reports that a spokeswoman for Kerry, April Boyd, tried to downplay the senators comment with a zinger of her own, saying "Impeachment jokes in Washington are as old as Donald Rumsfeld."
The Republican National Committee issued a counter statement Saturday in response to Kerrys comment.
"With his impeachment advocacy last night, John Kerry once again showed how out of touch he is with the American people," said RNC spokesman Brian Jones. "For one of the leaders of the Democratic Party to begin a push for presidential impeachment, in seriousness or jest, on the eve of the Iraq elections is both foolish and shortsighted."
Boyd told the Globe that even though Kerry was joking, his feelings about President Bushs handling of the war in Iraq are quite serious.
"'How are the same Republicans who tried to impeach a president over whether he misled a nation about an affair going to pretend it does not matter if the administration intentionally misled the country into war?' Boyd said. "Good luck finding a Democrat in America who disagrees."
More like Pepe Le Pew!
I'm amazed any self respecting Vets group would invite Kerry to speak at all.
John Boy is so 20th century.
Great picture...but it makes Kerry look as if he actually has a personality...
Since he backtracks on everything, it was only a matter of time.
John who?
True..I doubt that one did.
How many spokescritters does one guy need, we have this April Boyd charceter here, and then we had David Wade, late of making fun of Rush Limbaugh:

Wow. Three lies in one sentence. Republicans did in fact impeach a president--Bill Clinton. He was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice, not for his nationally televised, finger-wagging, bald face lie. Third, the Bush administration did not mislead the country into war.
Three lies in one sentence and it's not even a record. More like standard MO.
Good luck finding a Republican who gives a rats ass what a Democrat thinks. When it comes to National Security, you're about as useful as a spitball in a gun fight - and everyone knows it.
Maybe they did it for laughs. The more the guy talks, the more idiotic he seems--and that is no easy task, given how idiotic he already seems.
How typical of these scumbags to make scandalous charges and then insist it was all in good fun.
Liberals are about as serious as Mickey Mouse high on gasoline.
Yet another knee-slapper.
"'How are the same Republicans who tried to impeach a president over whether he misled a nation about an affair going to pretend it does not matter if the administration intentionally misled the country into war?' Boyd said.
Earth to Boyd! Clinton WAS impeached! And if Bush "intentionally miseld the country into war" why was your boss echoing the same "Saddam has WMD" statements before that very same war?
And isn't Kerry on the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, and a decorated "combat" veteran? Yet he let a cowboy from back-water Texas mislead him to war??
"Good luck finding a Democrat in America who disagrees."
Good luck finding a dem in American with an IQ over room temperature.
Hmmmm... he looks a little different from his normal appearance. Can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's just that he doesn't look angry.
Note to Kerry and your "spokespersons":
Get bent.

"I was for impeachment before I was against it!"
